“A Little Dated but Nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

A decent hotel at (for Napa) a decent price. The hotel is older (has a distinct '70s vibe) but they've done a good job working with what they've got: a number of areas have a surface update, and the rooms are the standard, comfortable Marriott. The location is perfect for all Napa Valley areas as it's in Napa but right on Hwy. 29.

We also used the spa, and the treatments were really good. The spa building is just above locker room, but again, they do well with they've got. The relaxation room is slightly better, with calm colors and comfy couches. Both of us enjoyed our massages and a facial, and it was well worth the money.

Room Tip: Ask to be facing the inner courtyard so you don't hear Hwy. 29.

Thank you for recognizing our hotel's recent renovations! We were very honored to win Marriott's renovation of the year award in 2011 for our VINeleven restaurant and lobby transformation, and it is great to see that our guests are still enjoying this comfortable environment. Our folks in the spa were also delighted to hear about your experience there, as we take pride in having some of the best therapists in the Napa Valley. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to be able to host you again soon!

Stayed at the Marriot in Napa Valley for 2 nights for a friend's bachelorette weekend.

Most of the staff were quite friendly and accommodating. Front desk was helpful in recommending places and giving directions.

The hotel itself is quite tired and worn out looking, it could do with some updating. Our room was passable, however, attention to detail is needed. The windows had fingerprints all over it, the desk chair was stained with some pink substance, the safe and mini fridge had white stains from something spilled on it. We called to have these items replaced/cleaned while we went out for dinner, but it was never done. We asked for some extra towels and toiletries, and instead of putting in the bathroom, they left it on the bed. There is free wifi in the lobby and in the rooms.

There was continental breakfast offered in the concierge lounge each morning. We were told at front desk it was until 10 am, but when we got there at 9, everything was cleared out. The person cleaning was nice enough to offer to bring out some of the food though. It's a typical offering: juices, cereals, fruits, yogurt, some hot items (eggs, oatmeal). There is a free wine tasting nightly at the hotel, but we were never able to make it back in time to try it out.

They have a small garden and pool area with lounge chairs. One night we also hung out in the lounge area with the firepit, and the staff were nice enough to let us hang out during the night.

Location was good, just off the highway and close to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Around a 10 min drive into Napa downtown and wineries.

All in all, an average stay. I don't think I'd come back when there are so many other places to stay, especially for the price we paid.

The hotel is in a great location close to downtown Napa and to wineries cose to the Silverado trail. The rooms are clean.
Make sure you park close to where your room is because the layout of the hotel is confusing and one could easily get lost walking around (kind of a labyrinth).
The lobby is huge, but loud with lots of people at the at the bar or around the pool/terrace area-- not very good if you're wanting privacy or quiet. Also a lot of people working in the lobby and surrounding areas since the wi-fi only works around that area.
If we were to spend lots of time away from the areas I mentioned, I would not stay here since Rt. 29 is very busy lately with construction-- but otherwise, ths hotel is perfectly fine.

Cheers! And thank you for providing such excellent feedback about our hotel. We love our location too, and consider ourselves at the heart of exploration in the Napa Valley. Thank you for your comments regarding our bustling VINeleven bar and restaurant as well. I do want to mention that our WiFi has been upgraded to a 100 Mb fiber optic pipe, and is available throughout the hotel. Thank you for staying with us and enjoy the rest of your summer.

The hotel and rooms are brightly coloured and clean. The rooms are spacious and well maintained - we could not find anything wrong with the rooms. Breakfast is your typical buffet style that you find at most hotels - nothing fancy but enough to get you started for the day. The location is about a 10 minute drive to Napa and 20 minutes to Sonoma. There are lots of winneries within a 20 minute drive. It was perfect for us as we planned on seeing lots of winneries and wanted to branch out to see both Sonoma and Napa as well as the other small towns north of Napa. We did not spend much time at the hotel as we used it for a home base so to speak. It was perfect for this as we could head out to the winneries and then the retaurants in the evening. However, you have to keep in mind that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you have to drive to get to any of the attractions in the area.

This hotel was close to downtown Napa and the wineries. The staff was nice and the rooms where clean and comfortable. The courtyard was nice for a drink before dinner. We had breakfast in the morning and the food was delicious! They also have free wine tasting in the evening. Enjoyed our stay.

We had the Marriott's nightly horderves and wine. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The Marriott also has a great location. Unfortunately, things like the furniture and public carpeting will need some refurbishing very soon. We went to the concierge lounge each morning, I do not remember a Marriott that the lounge was that crowed.

I don't have anything against the Marriott. I stay at them quite frequently, but when I book a spa for an anniversary trip, I expect, well a spa experience. Positives: free wine tasting in the evening, you can rent bikes from the front desk, decent location in Napa-close drive to many good wineries. Negatives: pretty much everything else. When we arrived the hotel lobby was filled with a million people. Apparently the Raiders football team practices behind the hotel. This was confirmed the next morning when we could hear the coaches yelling outside our window. One of the main complaints is that this location is just off the freeway and the rooms are no nicer than a standard Marriott. Even the toiletries are standard Bath and Body Works smelly soaps. The spa is in a separate, small building in the middle of the parking lot. If you are just looking for a bed to sleep in, this hotel is fine. If you are coming to Napa on a nice trip, stay elsewhere. (If you can afford it, stay in Yountville!)

As a senior contributor to TA, we realize that you are an expert at travel and we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at our hotel on this valuable site. The Oakland Raiders have just completed their 16th year with us, and we are honored to be regarded as the best training camp experience in the NFL by ESPN. We understand that this can sometimes change our hotel environment, and appreciate you bringing your experience with the team's presence to our attention. Also, I am happy to report that Marriott is changing their guest room amenities, so that the current Bath and Body Works soap will be replaced with a more modern product line from Thaan this September. Thank you very much for staying with us and have a great day!
