Stayed here for 2 nights in a Historic Suite. The hotel is beautiful, superbly decorated with elegant amenities, antiques, amazing clawfoot tub and double shower, comfy bed. Breakfast in bed was included. The breakfast was really the highlight of the stay - excellent fresh squeezed orange juice/coffee, choice of omlette on croissant or bagel, fruit parfait or quiche, danish, scone or bun - all made by the wonderful Sweetie Pie Bakery on the first floor (you can smell the fresh pastries baking around 5 AM).

Staff was reasonably nice but didn't seem to be terribly knowledgable about Napa. (I found this kinda odd). The hotel is in downtown Napa, so there was a bit more street noise than I had hoped. The river is at the back of the hotel, next to the freeway. The front of the hotel is close to the Napa Courthouse and their restaurant/shopping area. Overall it was very restful and pleasant. Got a great deal on it, too.

This hotel has an excellent location right in downtown Napa, close to everything you need. Rooms are nicely appointed with super-comfy beds, nice decor and a spiffy bathroom. We had a double queen room for our family of four and were in the building behind the Celadon restaurant on the river. The price is right and comes with a full breakfast to order from the nice bakery downstairs. Definitely a good deal and very clean. I recommend it!

We are three couples just back from 10 days in northern California, three nights of which were spent at the NRI. When we arrived there was a little confusion because I thought I booked three executive rooms with king sized beds. My husband and I received a double bedded room instead but the staff said they would check to see if another room was available. Well, lucky us, we were upgraded to the Captain Hatt suite, featured on their website. This was an unexpected treat! Needless to say, our room was the spacious center of our daily wine and cheese pre-dinner gathering. Kudos to the NRI for really going out of their way to correct a minor glitch. As to food, the dinners we had at Celadon was some of the best of our trip, the scones from Sweetie Pies were amazing and our Celadon waitress's recommendation to try Uva, a trattoria a few blocks away, was spot on. I agree with an earlier post that Napa is a great location to serve as a base for wine country travels.

We started our 2 wk journey of N. Cal at the NRI and spent 4 nights while spectating 3 days at Infineon Raceway (ALMS) in Sonoma. We found the location of NRI to be perfect. We started our mornings with breakfast by Sweetie Pies (scrumptious lemon poppy seed scones), always delivered at the time requested and then we drove an easy 15-20 min through the scenic valleys to Infineon. If you are planning a visit to the Raceway you may consider the NRI as your resting place.

Overall, we were pleasantly suprised by the NRI based on the mixed TripAdvisor reviews. Our room #304 was in the River Plaza Bldg, 3rd floor, very spacious & quiet, comfortable king bed, abundance of comfy pillows, modern marble tiled bathrooms, & a balcony with river view. (Note, the view is not the selling point of this room, but rembember you are staying in a historic bldg that was once a mill & the views surrounding may remind you of that). It was still nice to sit outside & enjoy Sweetie Pies while watching the hot air balloons launch in the cool mornings! If the decor of the room is what interests you most, ours was described as "Wine Country"- It was subtle & comfortable but not fancy or unique- average +. We enjoyed the size of the room most. The more luxurious decorated rooms can be found in the Historic Hatt Bldg.

The service at NRI was always very pleasant & accommodating & helpful for dining recommendations. We were skeptical about dining at the restaurants located at the NRI for fear of "hotel food" but we were comforted to learn that they are independently owned. So we tried both Celadon and Angelee. We especillay enjoyed Celadon, so we went back for seconds. The ambience of the courtyard with flowing flowers & fireplace is perfect. You might get a chance to meet the chef/owner if you visit on Sundays-he also has Cole's Chop House just a few minutes down the street. We also enjoyed dinner at UVA Trattoria (a 10 minute walk). The Napa General Store offers wine tasting & has extended ours with a nice menu. The location of NRI is super convenient for walking to other restaurants, shops, etc.

We enjoyed our stay at the NRI & are always pleased to see & be part of historical transformation....They've done a good thing here & eventually I bet those river views will be something to rave about.

We stayed at the Napa River Inn with our small family in July on a visit to Napa. The hotel is beautifully done and very well furnished. We stayed in a room with two double beds and there was plenty of room for the four of us. The rooms were quiet and the beds were comfortable. they even provided a CD for bedtime music. The generous breakfast is delivered to your door from Sweetie Pie's bakery downstairs. Get the morning buns. They are to die for. We were a little skeptical about the location when we arrived ( it is across the street from the county jail), but we felt safe and secure at all times. You have to use your room key to access the buildings. There are several very good restaurants on property and more within walking distance. The staff was courteous and helpful. We highly recommend the Napa River Inn to anyone headed to Napa.

We were so excited to stay at this hotel since it sounded so quaint and interesting! However, our first night we were woken up at 2:00 a.m. because of a dog barking in the room next to us. The very next morning, that guest left, however the guest in the room across from us also had a dog, and it barked for three hours straight while the guests were out. We did report this to the front desk, and they offered an apology but said, "I'm sorry, we are a pet friendly hotel." We can envision Motel 6 being pet friendly, but not a hotel in which we spent almost $300.00 per night (we love pets, by the way, just not barking dogs all around us in a hotel) The noise from the city traffic across the river is loud in the morning, and if you are on the first or second floors it sounds as if there are elephants on top of you from people moving around.

That said, we really enjoyed Celedon, and the morning breakfast from Sweetie Pies was great!!

In our opinion, this hotel is overpriced for the amenities offered.
