“Excellent Napa Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Napa River Inn is an excellent base from which to explore
Napa Valley and the surrounding area. Service is low key and the Hotel is charming, comfortable, quiet, and super convenient for walking to numerous Restaurants, Bars, Shopping, Wine Train etc.
Our Room had a nice river view from a petite Wisteria draped patio, luxe layered linens, a pile of lofty pillows, nice toiletries, dorm fridge, fireplace, and an unexpected delivery of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries upon arrival since it was a celebratory weekend.
A very decent Continental or Egg Sammy breakfast is available
as part of the rate from the adjoining bakery too.

We had a wonderful anniversary stay at this historic hotel. The room was comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the complimentary wine tastings at The Bounty Hunter. The location is excellent, right downtown. An easy walk to dinner and a nice stroll back along the river. Our breakfast was delivered hot and fresh from Sweetie Pie's and it hit the spot. It was nice to have breakfast at your door when you wanted it. I would recommend this hotel on your next visit to Napa.

Thanks to http://www.visitnapavalley.com/ I won a trip to Napa and part of the winning was choosing which hotel I wanted to stay at. I'm so happy I picked the Napa River Inn. At the end of Main St. but still close enough to walk to everything in town, is the historic Napa Mill which houses the Inn. The room was clean and comfortable, the beds fantastic and setting was so peaceful. Birds singing, wisteria climbing up to our balcony and everyone so friendly. The outdoor patio facing the river was beautifully landscaped with palm trees, flowering gardens, an incredible mosaic waterfall and being Arts in April, amazing chalk drawings were found all along the river walk. Close by is Morimoto's restaurant of Iron Chef fame, the Pear, Cole's Chop House, Carpe Diem - a ton of great restaurants. The Inn also gave us discounts to the Bounty Hunter wine bar and restaurant. It was fantastic - especially at happy hour - 4pm to 6pm. Incredible wine list, friendly and great food. But right next to the Inn is the restaurant Celadon - which was one of our favorite dining experiences! Not to mention every morning breakfast was supplied by Sweetie Pies Bakery. You can either have it delivered to your room or just go downstairs to the shop. Staying at the Napa River Inn only added to this great sweepstakes winning full of private wine tastings, massages, Michelin star restaurants and gorgeous weather.

Positives: This hotel is in a great location right in downtown Napa. We arrived before our room was ready and they gave us complimentary wine tasting coupons at nearby wine bars which was great so we were able to walk around and taste some wines right away (definitely check out Oxbow Market on 1st St for great food and ice cream; they also have several wine bars nearby). I also liked the in-room Curig coffee maker and the double-headed shower. Negatives were that the room was very dark and only had one small window and a couple of dim lamps. The claw-foot tub was also tiny and barely big enough for one person; it also would not fill all the way up due to a slight leak; and they did not provide bubble bath. Also the full-size toiletries were locked into the shower so you could not use them in the bathtub. The Sweetie Pie's breakfast was also nothing special. Overall not a bad hotel but I must say it was slightly below expectations in several areas.

I chose to go here one weekend for R&R, while on a business trip to San Francisco.
The location is right in downtown next to Napa River situated in a historic mill.
When I arrived late in the evening, I was told the place is nearly full and they had to upgrade me to next level. The room was beautifully decorated and specious, but somewhat not what I was looking for. There was only one small window and the place was so dark, even during the daytime
I had to keep the lights on. I wondered what I was upgraded from? Anyway, the downtown location is charming. and, most of my days were spent driving to and from many wineries I had wanted to visit. did not get a reservation to restaurants adjoining the property so I could not tell what those were like. They looked like wonderful places to eat at. Overall, the stay was relaxing, the guest services were good. I did most of my booking for wineries myself but talked to other guests staying there and they said Hotel Staff did a great job of arranging wine tours from there.
I will probably give this hotel another chance, If I am going to be in Napa again, but I would insist
on rooms that overlook river and or have better daytime lights.

Room Tip: If you like opulent room decor, ask for room above reception desk area. If you like more light ask...

We decided to book the Special which included dinner at one of three restaurants. We had a good dining experience at THE PEAR.. Our room was large and a corner room with a King Bed. The only negative comment is that The online info stated the Standard room would have a courtyard or library view but this wasn't quite true.. We had a view( if we so desired to open the curtains,) of the PARKING LOT. We did not complain though as the room was very nice and breakfast delivered was a plus. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and the value for Napa area was good as it's a very expensive area. We especially enjoyed walking around downtown and to the restaurant. They also gave us choc. covered strawberries as a B-Day gift to my husband.
How can you improve this facility? Put in an indoor jacuzzi and heated swimming pool. There are few indoor pools in the Napa Sonoma area and this is what we generally look for in hotels as we like to travel frequently and the fitness center and pool are what we look for when hotel shopping.
We will be back as we had a great experience and would stay longer next time. The staff makes you feel very welcome.

Room Tip: Go off season to keep your costs down but do Go as it's a nice experience.. And Parking is free...

We spent 2 nights at the Napa River Inn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We called in advance and they arranged a wine tour for us as well as made dinner reservations. The hotel has free bikes for rent that you can use to ride along the beautiful Napa River trail. The scenery is stunning. Parking was a breeze. Room had a great balcony and fireplace. Highly recommend, mostly because of the incredible customer service and great location.
