“Not bad, but not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The location is wonderful, the staff is courteous, and the rooms are very lovely. I think the experience would have been great if it hadn't been for the location of our room. We were put in a room on the first floor opposite a noisy restaurant. While the noise wasn't terribly bothersome, the fact that you could easily see into our room at night (from the restaurant and sidewalk) made my wife and I very uncomfortable. The blinds provided were inadequate and left gaps that could still allow the interior of our room to be seen by the public. To make matters worse, there was a path located right outside the window so people were constantly looking in. More effort should be spent to ensure the privacy of guests.
The breakfast delivery was quite nice and the food was good, however for the price of the room I would have expected more than a breakfast sandwich and danish.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor.

My husband and I did the "I left my Car in San Francisco" 2 day package including accommodation at Napa River Inn, transfers and the Wine train. We had travelled to San Francisco and Napa to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This package was superb and worked like clockwork. We loved the trip of the ferry both ways (on the return we had the most magnificent view of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset). The accommodation at Napa River Inn was just amazing. They upgraded our room because of our anniversary and left us a bottle of wine and a note of congratulations. We felt special. The hotel is first class. The whole package was amazing - Wine train definitely to be recommended. Thank you Napa River Inn - could not have been better.

Great location! Neat history of the place and very well upkept grounds. The room was very clean. Enjoyed the breakfasts and newspapers delivered to room daily. Great restaurants in the area. Nice patio for glass of wine and view of Napa River. We would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Napa River Inn for nights in October 2012. This is our 4th or 5th trip to Napa Valley. Overall, we really liked the Inn. Very nice...convenient to shops and restaurants...and in an interesting historic setting. Loved the breakfast that was delivered daily to our room. Comfortable bed. We stayed in the historic Hatt Building (main building). Would recommend and would stay again in the future.

This property is immaculately kept. Our room was spacious and well decorated. Chocolate dipped strawberrys were waiting upon our arrival. The free Sweetie Pie breakfast is ample, delicious and brought to your room daily at the time of your choosing. We enjoyed it on our patio Bistro set overlooking the river. There are great places to eat and drink nearby and plenty of wine tasting rooms in walking distance. The only thing missing is a hot tub pool area.

Decided to book something outside our hotel loyalty programmes and it really paid off! This is one of the best places we have stayed. Setting along the river was picturesque. Booked an executive room and requested balcony - very spacious and nice room, great bathroom and coffee machine and we did get the balcony requested. Also booked romance package - bubbles were waiting for us when we arrived (and they were quality too!!!) to enjoy on the balcony. Turn down service spot on. We had some business matters to tend to (scan, e-mail, fax etc),front desk did this with no charge! Check out so easy, just leave if all is fine. Free parking just in front ofthe door. Come back any time!

My mother and I were having a big celebratory trip to San Francisco and Napa in October, we decided to book the Napa River Inn as a bit of a treat for the last weekend after reading the reviews below and the website where the hotel is described as a premier luxury hotel. This was certainly not the case! To list but a few of the problems and awful service we received:

- We arrived to find that despite requesting a room with 2 double beds (and choosing this hotel largely because this was an option), all such rooms had already been assigned and all they could offer us was a camp bed.
- the camp bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on and gave me back pain (at the age of 25!)
- The original room was so small that once the camp bed had been set up you had to climb over both beds to get to the door.
- the second room we were given looked out on the car park. We we were woken up early each morning and through the night by cars, music from a wine bar nearby and people chatting as the windows were not double glazed.
- we could hear every movement in the room above.
- all the TV provided was pay TV as the free TV service was up available the whole weekend we stay. We expected to at least be able to get the news.
- the heating system did not work.
- and finally just to finish this epic stay off, we came home on the Saturday night to a strong smell of rotten eggs in the hallway and rooms, and we were informed by the receptionist that someone had probably set off a stink bomb in the building. A perfect end to our stay.

All in all we loved napa but for £250 a night this was over priced for a hotel which was more holiday inn than luxury.

Room Tip: Do not book through last minute.com they will give you an awful room - either a tiny room or one of...
