“Excellent Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

I was very pleased with everything about this Lodge. The rooms were very clean and the bed and furnishings were very Nice. The breakfast was handy. I can see the location might be a minus for some but I was working at the marina, and it worked for me.
I really liked the way the Lodge was layed out with a courtyard with plenty of off-street parking.

We needed an inexpensive place to stay for a weekend while we were attending fancy wedding parties in St Helena. Wine Valley Lodge served the bill and more. it's 50's funky and the folks at breakfast each morning were friendly and interesting. There is a Foster Freeze nearby that brought up great California childhood memories for my husband. The drive up to the St Helena area was not so bad even on a busy Labor Day weekend. However, it was good to have a designated driver as we got stopped at several DUI checkpoints! And they are serious about this, printing lists of names in the Napa paper; interestingly most of those nabbed appeared to be locals.

From check in through departure we were not disappointed. All the staff we met were very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast - while not fancy - was certainly enough. If you're expecting a 4-star luxury resort - this is not the right place. However, if you want a clean, convient location then by all means, stay here.

Downtown was a little more than walking distance but not that far. Plenty of places to eat and drink.

This is the best price in Napa!
It is located in a good place, rooms are squeaky clean, beds are decent, theres a microwave available (wich may come in handy).
Breakfast includes few but satisfatory options like coffee, milk, yogurt, bagels, butter, cream cheese...
Parking is also included.
Some others reviewers have complained about noise and thin walls I ddidnt notice that but maybe I wss lucky and had quiet neighbors.
The old lady at the front desk may not sound very fridndly, but dont let her scare you this place is an excelent deal.

I am surprised that this motel has received so many good reviews. I think it's just we're held hostage in the wine area and we're grateful to find a room so cheap. No, it's no where near the wineries, but it is near downtown Napa and it's a blast there. We were visiting family so the location was good for us. The motel has negative signs posted everywhere (6 in the breakfast room alone). Don't touch this, don't do that, stay away from here...etc. They have a table in the lobby covered with samples of deodorant and toothpaste? Every room has tacky dusty plastic flowers and old bedspreads. Out front of each room is one chair and an ashtray (at least every room is non-smoking). The bed was comfy, but no tubs in any of the rooms. We were on the side by the road, but didn't hear any traffic. The wifi is completely unsecured. Yes, fridge and microwave...no, in-room coffee maker. The continental breakfast is typically awful. Wrapped rolls, tiny bagels, coffee from a dispensing machine and notes pasted up everywhere telling you to stop doing something! Really they only get away with the room prices because its "the wine country". Napa is a big town-city like area, nothing quaint. Go north on the 29 or to Sonoma if you want charming.

Room Tip: Every room is the same.

Our visit was surprising and delightful. The vintage (not a derogatory term) motor court initially impressed me upon arrival with the sculptured trees. It started there with the congenial staff, the clean room, the scrubber style soap for the shower, the bottled water in the refrigerator, the soft sheets, the close parking, the quiet space and the newspaper in the morning. My girlfriend and I have tried many motels and we like this one the best - go back, YES.

Room Tip: Go there for a bargain and a surprise.

This hotel is easy to get to napa town center but not located in the valley thus lack of the view surrounded by greens and wineries. Easy to find the hotel since located just off the highway, the room is clean and breakfast is okay.
