“The Snobbiest Stop On Our Wine Tour”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Darioush was the only winery we visited during our time in Napa that lived up to the wine snob stereotype. The facility and grounds are gorgeous from the outside, while the inside feels a bit like a cross between a Persian-themed Vegas hotel and a high end spa (with attitudes to match.) Tasting fees were the highest of any of our stops and the wine was unremarkable. Servers seemed entirely disinterested and aloof. Unlike other wineries where the wine was thoroughly explained, Darioush staff seemed to have more of a "are you done yet?" attitude. We felt rushed and dismissed, which soured the experience even more.

TIP
Definitely would not recommend visiting Darioush in jeans or casual-wear unless you want to feel out of place. Also, if you're not looking to sip wine in an "elite society" environment, pass and head up the road in search of somewhere a little more laid back.

“Great grounds. Wine?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

The place is so ornate. It seemed like wine is an afterthought. Looked like a museum in there. I didn't try the wine because I couldn't figure how I would get someone's attention. You have to go there to take pictures.

“Invitation Only Tour - Pricey but Memorable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

After reading the many negative review from the vineyard we were considering cancelling ... very glad we didn't. The was a fascinating, informative tour of a very unique winery that has it origins from Iran. Our hostess was Dianne who walked us through each step of the wine making process .. incredible story. We walked through the vineyard, toured the private amphitheatre and ended off with an incredible tasting in the owners private wine cellar in the basement of his chateau. Expensive ($150) but very intimate.
