“Luxurious Rooms!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2010

I traveled with my husband and his family and we booked 3 one bedroom suites.

Pros: The resort was quite and peaceful. The rooms were IMMACULATE; clean, super spacious, and filled with everything you would possibly need including a washer and dryer, detergent, a blender, stove, etc. The bathroom was gorgeous and about the same size as the bedroom. There was 9 of us on this trip and we thought we needed 3 rooms but we realized that each suite was definitely more than enough space for 4 person per room. Swimming pool was nice and had a little bbq area for you if you wanted to cook. Parking is free and huge so you don't have to worry about your car being too far from your room; there is always a spot near your room.

Cons: It's very far from most of the wineries. The wine at the resort was horrible! The resort provides each room with a complimentary wine bottle plus a two for the price of 1 wine tasting deal. The tasting room was very disappointing; it was small and empty (we later found out why) and the wine bartender is incompetent. She simply read the wine labels to us and recited a descriptions which she memorized but was unable to explain. She was not able to answer any questions about any of the wines served. I didn't like any of the wines served but I'm wondering if it's even fair to say that since the bartender's lack of experience serving definitely tainted the taste of the wines. I didn't like my first wine but almost finished it and asked for the next tasting, she simply poured the next bottle into the same cup without rinsing. I let it go thinking it was an accident and that she was in a hurry to serve others. However, the second tasting was horrible and I asked for the next one without finishing the second tasting and the bartender mixed the wines! She simply poured the third tasting into the same glass. When I complained, she dumped the wine mix but did not rinse the glass. The bartenders in the actually bar area was more skilled but had an attitude when I requested that she adjusted my drink a little to my taste. The food was mediocre; the location was too far to go out and eat so we decided to buy grocery and cook for the rest of our stay which was fun!

I got this hotel from Priceline name Your Own Price for about $180, although i wasn't bidding very well and could have gotten it for lower. The reviews and photos are all accurate but depends on what room you get. The basic is a studio from what i hear. We were offered an upgrade to a King Resort Suite (about 800 sq ft) with jetted tub and kitchen for $30/night extra as the Priceline offer only secured us double beds. (Although we have ALWAYS been accommodated at other hotels for bed choice despite Pricelining. So this was a little annoyoing considering I had called ahead!). CONS: when we got to this room, there was already a couple that had just checked in 30 minutes ago!! This was absolutely ridiculous and a major security issue. They moved us right away and gave us a $30 breakfast credit. This was the only major issue we had and I'll guess it was a one-off. But the manager herself made this mistake. And yes, the A/C is loud. Otherwise, you would be happy with the spaciousness, the amenities, the humongous and luxurious bathroom, the fireplace (turn it on with a switch!), the vineyard on the premises (saw a rabbit!), pool/hot tubs, the cave spa, free wifi (call the front desk for the code), and complimentary DVD rental with popcorn. You don't feel like you're in an "industrial park" when you're there. It's like living in a comfortable condo resort - like your house if you could afford it and not too pretentious!
From my understanding, there doesn't really seem to be a super resort in Napa. It's very spread out and this was 10 minutes from downtown Napa (try Morimoto's, Allegria, but not Celadon) and downtown Sonoma (try Boonfly Cafe for breakfast on your way to Sonoma) so it was a great base for us. We joined a wine tour so did not have to drive ourselves for wine tastings and they (Platypus) picked us up at 10am sharp. Free parking on premises and also throughout Napa and Sonoma. It was about 1-1.5 hour from San Fran. Nobody bothered us about a timeshare presentation. We had little interaction with personnel working there. I agree that downtown Sonoma is much prettier and doesn't have all these empty/for lease retail spots in the rundown downtown Napa. I think Healdberg and Yountville are much nicer places to stay in "Napa."

I'm not sure why people would want to stay in Napa. It's largely devoid of decent restaurants (ones that aren't overpriced or overhyped), and the town itself seems like something that is in need of a little TLC. What tourists really want is St. Helena, up the road a bit.

We made the mistake of staying in Napa for 3 nights, one of which was at this hotel. This isn't really a hotel, though, it's a time share resort that has a hotel facility. The rooms are obviously condos that are being rented out to tourists like myself. No problem there, just letting you know what to expect.

The "resort" sits in a business park, off of one of the main roads that leads into Napa. It's a mile or two into town, though, so don't think this is "in town."

The free bottle of wine they give you upon your arrival is not worth opening. Seriously, pour it down the drain. You're in Napa Valley to drink some of the world's greatest wines, and this swill is an insult to wine.

The room is brand new and decorated in what I might call "suburban traditional American" with granite countertops and cherry cabinets in the open kitchen area in front of the bed. The sound insulation to the inner hallway is fantastic -- there's the equivalent of an airlock you have to enter to get into the room through two sets of doors.

Which shows the builders gave a lot of attention to details like noises from outside your unit. Too bad the builders gave no attention to details of noises *inside* your unit, like the AC unit. With the unit on, it sounded like a little tornado in your room. Great while you're awake -- lousy for a good night's sleep. It was hot while we were in the valley, so we had no choice but to suffer through the constant wakings .

Everything else was top notch. So much so that we thought, what the heck, we'd stay here for another 2 nights. No go, though. Even though other websites showed the resort still had rooms available (at a much higher, different rate), the hotel's own block of rooms were all taken. Odd that they couldn't see that they still had unsold inventory available they couldn't make available to us. So we had to move on to the Marriott, which turned out to be a much better value (and just as enjoyable stay, without the tornado AC unit in the room).

One last thing... We ate the on-site restaurant after trying to partake of some food in downtown Napa. What a mistake that turned out to be! Needless to say, downtown Napa is something you could avoid and not miss a thing. The resort's on site restaurant turned out to be a pleasant surprise -- outstanding meal served in an elegant but casual atmosphere.

The Internet connection in our room was sketchy at best. We expected better for a resort of this caliber, and could do nothing more than try and check our emails.

I would never buy a condo or time share at a place like this, but I can understand why some people would. As a hotel, it's a pretty good stay. But it's on the south side of town, while all the wineries are more up north. Stay north or in a B&B while visiting the Napa Valley if you can.

This hotel has it all. The rooms are lovely with a great bath, kitchenette or full kitchen, and patio in each. The staff and concierge were helpful. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and even has an onsite tasting room. In addition the restaurant on site is very good.

This is a wonderful place. Beautiful, well equiped rooms. Quiet, simple pool and hot tub with complementary ice cold lemonade provided. The restraunt mixes a stiff mimosa -- which is the way I prefer ; )

I don't understand the complaints on location (e.g. "business park"). It borders a vineyard, and is maybe 5 minutes from downtown Napa. If you have a rental car, I'd say this is a prime location.

I would not normally take the time to review a hotel but I had such a great experience I felt the need to write about it! The grounds were well groomed and taken care of. There were a lot of people staying there and we didn't hear a lot of noise and there were so many people willing to take care of our every need. This was our first trip to Napa for wine tasting and the concierge really knew what she was talking about and gave some great advise on where to go all while taking in the amount of time we were there for. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The location threw me at first ... in the middle of a business park just outside of downtown Napa. But the facilities were great and the rooms are fantastic.

Spacious ... comfortable and perfect for enjoying a relaxed few days in Napa. The service on check in was great, amazing personalised recommendations from the conceirge really helped us craft our days and visit the wineries we needed to see.

Bed was comfortable and our room had a lovely spa that was a nice touch. Check out was fuss free and since we've visited we've recommended the hotel to our friends in Australia.
