4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

My wife and I recently stayed at the Vino Bello while in Napa. We were extremely pleased with everything we encountered at the resort. The accomodations were top notch. We stayed in a one bedroom unit on the first floor. The room was very large and had very nice furnishings.

The staff was wonderful and the location was ideal for touring the lower part of Napa.

The stay exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

I stayed here last summer for one night and was pleased with the Vino Bello Resort yet disappointed with the staff. Check-in was a bit of an ordeal, they put a $250 hold on my credit card which took over a week for them to take off. This is not cool, especially when you're traveling and may only have a few credit cards on you. They also charged me a $10 resort fee twice, this also took about a week to get a refund. The front desk staff had NO CLUE what they were doing. You can't just charge people's cards and not tell them! They were flighty, young, and unprofessional.

Besides the staff, the hotel is very nice. The beds were comfortable and downtown Napa is a short drive (I think they may have a shuttle?). We didn't get a chance to go to their tasting room, yet we did have a free bottle of wine in our room.

I would probably try and stay somewhere else next time, we pricelined this hotel and it was still $180/night.

We bought into this timeshare about 6 years ago, before we had kids. We enjoyed several weekend getaways with just to two of us, as we only live an hour away in San Francisco. But, now that we have two kids, we appreciate a different side to the Vino Bello, which has prompted me to finally write a review for it.

We just got back from a 3 night trip, and had a great stay. Our room this trip, was a one bedroom condo on the resort side. (note: there's also the hotel side called the Meritage). The rooms in the condo are quite large and well designed. With little kids this really helped, to have enough room for them to play and enough room to separate them to take naps. The kitchen is full enough to prepare many of our meals, saving us money, time in the car, and saving restaurants from our squirmy kids. Two TV's and a dvd player didn't hurt either. Our one peeve was that the door that leads to the space outside our door closes loudly, so if you have neighbors that go in an out, you'll be hearing that door a lot.

They have made some great upgrades in the last few years. The facilities are great. The new sports bar and bowling alley and coffee shop as well as the large piazzas with tons of seating offer places to hang out if you're not into wine tasting. We had eaten at the nicer restaurant Sienna in the past on a night which was pouring rain. It was fine, though nothing special, considering your other option in this culinary hub. The coffee shop has some basic food, as well as milk, which saved us a trip into town. The Sports Bar has paninni's and other pub grub type food.

Our favorite feature on the property are the pools! Much of Napa slanted very much towards adults, this little corner of the valley gives it's little visitors something to do. There is a very nice "adults only" pool area nearest the hotel side; with cabanas, lots of loungers, fire pit, and jacuzzi. Then on the resort side there are the "family" pools. A small children's pool with 1 1/2 feet deep, which warms up nicely in the sun. A splash zone with water jets for the kids to run around in. A larger pool, still only 4 1/2 feet deep is good for playing around in, and a jacuzzi as well. We had a great time splashing around. It never got crowded, since the majority of guests used their days to visit the wineries. There are also two large gas grills that you can use. We will definitely plan on getting some steaks or fish next time we're up. They have towels available too, which is a very convenient touch.

We didn't visit the onsite winery or go to the spa, but we hear great things about the spa.

The location is a little funky. Definitely look at a map before heading in, or better yet, use GPS. It's not on the beaten path, though it's only about 5 minutes from the southern part of Napa (the city) and some stores like Target and Raley's, and 10 minutes from downtown Napa or the Outlets. It's definitely a bit of a trek up to Yountville, St. Helena, or Calistoga (about 40 minutes), or Sonoma (20 minutes). So if you're going to need a car if you want to get up there other than taking a tour. They do have a shuttle that runs every 45 minutes to downtown, but that's a little limiting. We always drive our own car.

If you're a Shell Vacations Club member, you'll get a phone call (or two) asking you to attend an update meeting. Which they say is only 45 minutes, and includes some of the usual gifts for attending. We opted out this time, which they were fine with.

I have to say, that there are times when I regret buying into a timeshare (like every year our maintenance fees are due!), but overall, we really like coming back to the Vino Bello at least once a year, and consider it our vacation "home" in Napa.

Room Tip: Upper floors are probably quieter. We stayed in building 3, the Merlot Building, which is the furth...

My wife and I have stayed at Vino Bello on multiple occasions in every room from the smallest studio to the large 2 bedroom condo. Overall I would recommend this resort without reservations. One of the few downsides is the walls are thin, and depending on who is staying next to you it can be noisy. Stay on the top level if possible to avoid hearing your upstairs neighbors. Perfect location to start your trip up Highway 29 or Silverado Highway, and is convenient for day trips to Sonoma as well. The spa and wine cave are a must, and take the quick hike up to the grape crusher on the hill, the scenery is fantastic, so take your camera with you!
I have red some reviews that give it a bad rating, I guess anyplace can have people who have bad experiences, however, I have stayed multiple times, am a Shell Vacation Club owner, and would not hesistate to recommend this resort to my friends and family.

Room Tip: Try to get an upper level room

We stayed here for 3 nights...would never go back or recommend this place.

Value: Resort fee of $20/day...for 2 waters (which they didn't bring), and a terrible bottle of Moscato wine that we had to pour out after the first sip. Way too expensive & should NOT be called a 4 star resort, that is laughable. Decor is tacky, construction is cheap.

Cleanliness: There was hair all over the room. The bathroom was clearly not cleaned properly because there were splashes of the green conditioner all over the tub. Cobwebs throughout the cheap/tacky sconces on the walls.

Location: HA! In the middle of a nowhere business park. Cab to town center is $25. Shuttle runs in the late afternoon.

*Bring your own toiletries. The shampoo did not lather and I'm pretty sure the conditioner was lime green lotion.

This is the second time we've stayed here, each time just for one night. Check-in was a breeze. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The grounds include two pool areas, a bocci court, a spa (which we did not partake in), Trinitas winery, and a vineyard! The resort itself is several miles south of downtown Napa, but there is a shuttle bus that runs until 10pm that is a great way to try the excellent restaurants and indulge in some of the best wines in the world. Also onsite is a very good restaurant plus a sports bar, complete with bowling alley and pool tables. The only negative is that we were asked several times to schedule an "owner update", timeshare-speak for a sales pitch; we politely declined.
On check-out we agreed that next time we'll stay much longer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the pool. And, if you plan to visit some wineries, download one of th...

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week at Vino Bello and the NApa Sonoma region. We have a owned at a timeshare resort for 25 years and this was an exchange. The resort is convenient to almost everything. It is in a quiet area so all the better. There is much to do at the resort or nothing if you so choose. Beautiful surroundings great one bedroom condo with all the amenities. The shower was great with a total of 5 heads for a great shower. The hot tub was fabulous after a long day of wine tasting and exploring. A special shout out to Joe at the front desk for helping with one problem that he easily remidied. The daily maid service was a special touch ( very much appreciated and not expected). As I stated in the title I aould give this establishment 6 stars if I could. The Siena restaurant was great along with the sports bar for great dinners. The concierge will get any reservations you require with only one request to join them for a sales pitch! It was turned down by us and never brought up again ( again greatly appreciated). The spa was also top notch and was able to use the amenities at the spa for whole day if I chose. Did go back at end of the day for sauna! Great and wonderful experience by everyone we came in contact with, service was #1.
