“Great Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

This was our second visit to the Vino Bello this year. The first time we exchanged into 1 bed-room unit for 4 days. Our first stay was so pleasant, it inspired us to come back for a longer visit. This time we had a 2 bedroom unit and stayed for two weeks over Thanksgiving. It was just like being home (though smaller), except with maid service, an on-site winery and gourmet restaurant. The 2 bedroom unit consists of a 1 bedroom unit with an adjoining studio unit. The 1 bed-room unit has a full kitchen/dining area, a sitting area with a gas-fired fireplace and an outside balcony or patio on the 1st floor, a spa-tub and a luxurious shower room. The studio unit is has a large bedroom with comfortable sitting room, a small outdoor patio and a full bathroom with a shower/ full-size tub. Instead of a full kitchen, it has a wet-bar with a microwave and a mini refrigerator. Both units feature a sofa-bed couch and can each sleep 4 adults, more if you care to get cozy. This 2 bedroom set-up is very convenient way to have friends or family visit and still maintain privacy for everyone; both my son and a former work colleague found it very convenient on their separate stays during those 2 weeks. As for other conveniences, if we didn't want to eat in, it was a short walk to the gourmet restaurant in the resort, or a short ride to a number of gourmet restaurants in Napa (check-out the Oxbow Market on 3rd if you visit Napa). If one wanted to sample wine without driving to a winery, it was just another short walk to the on-site winery's tasting room. The resort is located just north of the intersection of the Silverado trail and 29/121, with easy access to the wineries in Napa and Sonoma, and downtown Napa. The one drawback is that the parking could not accommodate all of the cars when there are 2 or more cars per unit.

Room Tip: Top floor accommodations are the quietest and have the best views. The north side units face the...

Nicely stocked rooms, quiet, well maintained grounds, next door to the beautifully decorated (for Christmas) Meritage Resort. You have access to the resort amenities, and there are lots of places to just sit and relax at the resort. The resort also has an indoor fireplace in the lobby and has an outdoor fireplace also. Both fireplaces have seating nearby so you can just hang out by the fire. Our unit had an indoor gas fireplace that we used everyday. Nothing to do with kids here in the winter, but I can imagine in the summer it would be fun to hang out by the beautiful pool while the kids played.

Room Tip: we stayed in the Merlot building and it doesn't really have a good view. The older buildings, C...

We went with friends over Thanksgiving. They got a "two bedroom" suite. There was plenty of room for our Thanksgiving dinner. Their room was quite nice. We had the second bedroom, across a private entry. It was also nice and had a microwave and sink if we wanted them. it was also stocked with dishes.

The grounds are very nicely kept. It is on the same property as their sister-hotel, The Meritage. It was so nice that we will return after Christmas.

Our wine tasting experience was fun and the wine was good. Their restaurant was also good.

We have stayed here several times, most recently in a 1 BR. I actually think this is a good location for visiting wine country, it isn't right in the middle of Napa but there is easy access to Hwy 12, 121 and the Silverado Trail. There is a tasting room on site and other tasting rooms within a 10 min drive. There are a lot of restaurants nearby as well. We like the large well stocked units, even the guest room/studios have a full kitchen. The beds are comfortable and I love the large shower and the whirlpool tub. There is no makeup mirror and the only full length mirror is not in a well lit location (behind the bedroom door).

My one gripe with the Vino Bello is the resort fee of $20 for this you get 1 bottle of wine on arrival, 2 bottles of water replenished daily, internet, shuttle and parking...I dont know any other property in Napa that charges for parking and the parking is so limited that when the resort is at capacity it can be impossible to find a space (even on the street). We keep coming back so I guess the pesky fee isn't a big deal but I really dont see much value added (especially if you are here for several days) and it bothers me enough that this isn't my first choice for a place to stay...

We enjoyed another staycation here, truly enjoy this resort. We love the fact this resort is located on the outskirts of town (10 minutes to Downtown Napa). It is very quiet and peaceful. My only negative was being on the second level, the room above us ran their spa tub after 11:00, just a wee bit annoying, so always try for the third floor (that's why 4 stars on the sleep quality) otherwise it's a 5). They have added a bowling alley and sports bar! Their one bedroom suites can't be beat, full kitchens saves money on meals and they also provide coffee. Love the free bottle of wine, goody package and the robes!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room/suite overlooking the vineyards or pool.

My husband and I had never been to this resort and let me start by saying "It's great!" From the moment we checked in we were treated like royalty. The front desk staff were very helpful and polite. Our room was a one bedroom condo and excellent. Large area, clean, and had a great view from the balcony. We booked early and paid at the time of the booking which reduced the rate quite a bit. Your reservation cant be cancelled but it is worth the difference in price. We did go to the cafe and Crush lounge while onsite. It was nice to play shuffle board, have a cocktail and watch a sports event. We will be back for sure, loved it!

Room Tip: I would suggest upgrading to the pool view, you can see the vineyards also which was really nice.
