“Fabulous first time in Napa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2011

A belated honeymoon (almost 10 years later) was the reason for our first trip to Napa and stay at the Meritage. Overall, the resort is top notch and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very nice and views were great. Quite hotel atmosphere that is great for those not with traveling children. Daily coffee and tea service in the lobby and someone always around to get you what you need.
We ate in the restaurant and well as spent time in the bar. Raphael was our waiter in Sienna our first night and was wonderful. He made it 100% special and was totally on the ball with everything. Food was outstanding for both breakfast and dinner (ate both twice in the restaurant, didn’t have lunch). Bartenders were friendly and fun, they even told a few jokes.
Spa Terra was amazing. Had the couple’s massage which was 100% better than my last massage here at home and hung out in the relaxation room. Even though there was a wedding going on, you would have never known as the staff didn’t miss a beat.
Only complaint I had was when we arrived an hour earlier than check in the room wasn’t ready so we hung out in the bar. By 5:30 I was a bit upset that they still had no room ready, but we were in by 6:00. The supervisor at the front desk compensated for the issue by buying us breakfast the next day in the hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the vineyards or pool.

My wife and I had four nice days at the Meritage, while I was attending a conference there. This is a relatively new, comprehensive property that is far from "cookie cutter". We had a nice sized room overlooking vineyards; the bed was very comfortable and all expected amenities, including free wireless, were provided. We especially enjoyed the hotel bar, where items from Siena, the resort restaurant are served. The staff was helpful, and we had no issues during the stay.

The meeting facilities were quite good for the type of conference I attended (about 200 persons). The conference center is adjacent to the Vineyard Terrace and pool, where we had perfectly delicious seated lunches. I'd be happy to return for a meeting here, or to have a hand in scheduling one here.

The property is located south of Napa, so a car is helpful. We did use the resort shuttle to town for a meal one evening and found that quite convenient. This is a nice property, well suited for visitors of all ages, including families with children; we'd be happy to stay again!

My husband whisked me away for my Birthday and from the moment we got there they we extremely accommodating! They even had a Happy Birthday card and chocolates delivered to our room right after we arrived as well as posted a Happy Birthday announcement to me in the front. The concierge helped us with coupons and directions for vineyards. We walked through the onsite vineyard every morning and while we didn't get to take advantage of the spa or tasting room, we did look inside of them and they were INCREDIBLE! Our upgraded suite was AMAZING (can you say jacuzzi tub and AMAZINGLY comfortable beds?!). The food and bar were excellent. The workout room was enough (not super fancy, but was still able to get a workout in). I would also highly recommend Hidden Napa Jeep Tours for an AMAZING, PRIVATE tour of Napa (www.HiddenNapa.com). It was our first time in Napa and definitely not our last. We will be back. Thank you Meritage for making this such a fabulous trip!

Room Tip: Just ask! The front desk is VERY nice!

stayed here with spouse on business. i am a jogger/ walker but there is no place to do either...surrounded by freeways with the connection of a very small business park.... so in the future will try to stay in a more scenic area where you don't have to take the car to go anywhere. other than that...very nice staff, room was nice and the rate was good. lobby attractive, etc. so you won't be disappointed if you don't care about being able to walk outside your hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to review us! We apologize that you weren't able to find a suitable walking/jogging area. We have a great hiking trail that leads you through the vineyards on the property. Please join us again soon, and give the trails a try. We hope to see you again!

This hotel was a big disapointment. I am not one to complain as I make the best out of every situation but before booking this hotel, please consider:
- The rooms are totally out dated and the walls were so dusty. I feel like it needed a really good scrubbing before we got there
- The conceirge was rude every time I asked about something I was treated like an inconvienience
- The food and drinks were over priced and not good at all. I have no problem paying $15 for a cocktail but it must at least be good
- The premises feels totally outdated
- Pool was okay but you must bring your own towels and there is no wait staff for food/drink by the pool
- Location is terrible (can't walk ANYWHERE...even to buy a bottle of water)
- Problem getting the room cleaned (after calling 4 times they finally came).

Room Tip: Don't stay here! if you do, look over the pool and vines

We had a brief stay at the Meritage and thought it was terrific. The ambiance was lovely with the pool, fireplace, and hottub. We didn't get a chance to walk through the vineyard, but our room overlooked it. Very nice

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the construction. If you do this, you won't know it is happening

We had a wonderful introduction to the beauty of Napa and all its fantastic wineries at the Meritage. We enjoyed fun and interesting tastings in the Trinitas tasting room with knowledgeable staff, plus one of the best massages I ever experienced in the Spa Terra, complete with an unexpected glass of champagne at the conclusion. Staff was very accommodating, our room overlooking the pool and vineyard was relaxing. All on all a fun time for all.
