“Beautiful but Pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2011

The resort itself is very beautiful. You feel like you could be in Tuscany. However, the location is a little strange (in a business area). I also did not like being asked if "I would love to come back" or "want to win a trip to Hawaii" which is a ploy to get you to a timeshare meeting. If you pay that much for a hotel... they shouldn't be bothering you as you walk in and out. I also did not understand the resort fee. What was it for? No daily newspaper, no wi-fi, so Im still trying to figure that one out. The restaurant on the resort was average. So if you want a beautiful hotel and close to everything (about 10 minute drive) this is a good resort, but watch out for the hidden fees and time share sharks.

Room Tip: Ask for view of pool and vineyard.

Outstanding staff, food was excellent, spa and wine tasting as good as any in Napa if not the best, service first class. The whole "package" is so excellent we will return, and soon.

We stayed over Memorial Weekend and it was a great place to unwind. This was our second stay (first was 5 years ago), so we weren't surprised by its location in a tech park. Even though it may not be as scenic, the location is actually very convenient to both highways that run parallel through wine country (29 and Silverado Trail), so you can avoid the congestion of the 29! The hotel is lovely and the service is great. They're building a new addition, but there weren't any workers at the time of our stay since it was a holiday weekend. I'm not sure whether noise is a concern during normal construction hours.

I was nervous about coming here because of some of the reviews and almost changed to the Westin. I am glad I didn't. The property was beautiful. The pool was heated and always gad towels. The SPA was clean and I had one of the best deep tissue massages ever. Front desk was friendly. Room service very fast and always checked to see if everything was ok. We had a balcony that overlooked the small Vineyard out back. If I had to complain about anything, the concierge for the evening was somewhat grumpy. I would definitly go back to the Meritage.

Room Tip: Get a balcony overlooking the Vineyard.

I live about 30 minutes from Napa, but decided to have a weekend girls trip. I have been to the Meritge many times for events, but this was the first time I've actually stayed there. The location is good, it's about 2.5 miles outside of the Downtown Napa area. It is a 30-40 minute drive to various Wineries. It's very quite, staff is friendly. There is no continental breakfast if that's something your worried about, just coffee. There is a restaurant, but it is on the higher end. We stayed in a "Suite" with 2 queen beds, but there was nothing "suite" about it. Just a regular room with 2 queen beds. Nice pool and spa area. Would stay there again. Free parking!

Thank you for reviewing us! We apologize if the guest room description was misleading, and we are addressing this issue with our staff. Our restaurant Siena offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily but if you want to go somewhere else, our complimentary shuttle can take you right into downtown Napa for a bite! Please join us for Sunday Brunch soon or return for another weekend trip!

Three of us booked a room at the Meritage and were very happy with our stay. The complimentary bottle of wine and bottles of water in the room were very nice. We were able to have a wine tour pick us up and drop us off at the front door and the bellman took our wine purchases to our room. We used the complimentary shuttle to our restaurant reservations in downtown Napa and had great service both ways. We had spa packages for the next day and loved the grotto surroundings. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The front desk assisted me in shipping my wine purchases across country and they arrived on time and intact.

This was a hidden gem but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us using the outside pool. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Meritage recently for a business meeting, and was very satisfied. The service and facilities were top-notch, resolving requests without any fuss or hassle. I thought the staff were some of the best I've seen, not getting in the way when we wanted to do things ourselves, but at hand and effective for any services we needed.

Rooms and facilities were typical luxury hotel. There's a vinyard on the hillside behind the hotel that you can walk around, but otherwise nothing of interest in walking distance. While everything was done well at the hotel, at the same time, it didn't have anything (like great views or walkable location) that really drew me to want to make a priority to come back on a personal trip. I didn't try any of the spa services; those might make more of a draw for some people.

Thank you for spending your business trip with us at The Meritage Resort and Spa. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and can ensure you an enjoyable visit if you do decide to return on a leisure getaway. I’m disappointed you did not get to experience Spa Terra and Trinitas Tasting Room and hope you get the opportunity to indulge in the property some time soon.
