“Tasty not 4 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

I admit it, being from Vegas I think I took the food quality and pricing for granted. The service was great, and prices are good for an upscale spot, but I don't think the food was top notch. A bit bland and small portions.

“Nice setting and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

The Pear Southern Bistro is part of a restaurant group, of which all restaurants include "Pear" though the cuisine types vary. It's the only one of the group in Napa. It's located in a very attractive and lively new development along the river and the entrance faces the walkway along river rather than street. The inside looked nice enough, although we sat outside, which was quite pleasant on a number of levels. An acoustic singer/guitarist on the patio area also added to the vibe. The smoked Gouda fondue was quite good, and is a great appetizer to share. Salads, entrees and dessert were all very good. The wine list is reasonably interesting. After a slow start with some waits, service was at an acceptable level.

“California's take on Southern Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

This place did not disappoint, we really enjoyed our late lunch here on the patio. Would come back here for lunch or dinner again. The chicken and waffels were great as was the cobb salad. Will come back for more in the future.

“Very Good Early Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

After touring Napa Valley and holding ourselves down to 3 tastings, my wife and I were ready for an early dinner around 5ish yesterday. After checking out Tripadvisor and walking the town to read menus we walked in The Pear. Since it was only 5 pm, there was just one other couple there, although other families came in as we ate. They had plenty of staff, all working, not standing around. Four people in the open kitchen, and four servers. We each had a glass of wine from a decent wine list emphasizing local choices of course. My wife had a "black and bleu" salad, steak tips with bleu cheese on a salad, and she quite enjoyed it. I had the chicken and dumplings which came in its own pint sized cast iron crock. Very hot, generous and tasty. We were both happy with the choice.

“The biggest addition to the restaurant scene on Napa in a long time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

This place is off the hook, seriously. Low country southern food with a four star flare, this place pretty much knocked Morimoto's off my list, just because I can't walk past it when I am hungry. I could list my favorites but that would be just re printing the menu. DO NOT MISS.
