“Carneros Inn Trailer Park”

This place looks like a trailer park with tin walls everywhere. My husband and I paid for a cottage with a vinyard view and I expected to see some part of a vinyard when on my patio of from a window in the cottage. The only vinyard view we had was when we went out of our cottage and looked down the path between the tin walls of our cottage and our neighbor's. Every cottage has a tin wall around it. If you sit outside in your private patio you'll see corrugated tin walls all around you. It's very sterile looking. If you sit outside your front door, you'll probably be looking straight into the eyes of your neighbor. The cottages are very close together.
The rooms are very well appointed, but the bedroom is very small.
The staff when we were there was very young-- they were very nice and tried to be helpful, but they need some maturity and more knowledge of the wine country.
We're lucky to get to Napa a couple of times a year and we have stayed in many places and this was not one of our favorites.

“Great mix of rustic and luxurious”

My wife and I just returned from Carneros, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The exterior has a farmy, rustic feel (e.g., cows graze just a few feet from the jacuzzi in a pool area with a great vineyard view) -- both don't let that fool you.

Once you get inside the cottages, you'll again feel just an hour outside San Fran. From heated floors to a great bed, three-head showers to a plasma TV, every detail has been paid careful attention. Cottages are swanky and luxurious.

A couple tips:
1. Luggage wheels don't roll well. The lot and walkways are gravel, so be prepared to struggle a bit with the luggage.

2. The plasma TV on the wall swivels. Our room was situated so that the bed was not in front of the TV, but no problem. Just turn the TV toward you, no matter you may want to sit.

3. Bring your MP3 player if you have one. I brought an iPod and played it through the plasma TV speakers via the DVD player. It's easy. Just plug RCA jacks into the front of the player, put the TV on input 2, and enjoy your own tunes.

Otherwise, enjoy! If you appreciate a combination of rustic and luxurious, you can't miss.

“Absolutely fabulous!”

The Carneros Inn is nothing short of a little slice of heaven on earth. We loved the king size bed with the softest of Italian linens, the plasma tv and the nightly "clean wood" fireplace. The deck is not just a little sitting area - its your own little garden away from home. Breakfast on the deck, after an outside shower, was nothing short of decadent! This is no standard hotel room made up with a few amenities to make you feel like you are being treated special. No, it is a totally unique and wonderful escape. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a unique, pampering and luxurious break from the hustle and bustle.

“A cozy, peaceful, and unique hideaway in wine country”

The Carneros Inn

My husband and I stayed at the Carneros Inn September 7 through the 10th. We were able to receive our 3rd night free by booking on expedia.com. The service upon check-in and check-out were fine. Maid service is twice daily--which is very nice as well. We did not eat at the hilltop, but we did dine at the boonfly on our first night. The servers were great (we were the only customers); however there were so many flies bothering us during our meal that we could not enjoy it. I agree that the rooms are very small, and I was a little disappointed at first; however there is a small closet and extra storage by the bed if you would like to unpack. What made this place special was not only the intimate location and setting, but the extra perks included in your room. The location has excellent accessibility to Napa, Sonoma, and Carneros wine regions. The privacy of each unit was unparalleled--my husband loved the alfresco outdoor shower so much he never used the inside one. The bathroom takes up about a third of the room--the heated floors are very nice and the spaciousness is indulgent. The plasma TV, minibar, private patio with heater, free internet access were all nice features. The exercise facility has not been completed, so guests must use a very small work-out room. My husband used this facility and reports there are still kinks with having towels and bottled water available there. If you would like a truly unique experience in wine country in an excellent location and tranquil setting--I would recommend the Carneros Inn.

“Great Product- Very Inconsistant Service Levels”

The Carneros Inn

The physical product and the setting are wonderful. The private garden/patio which was dinged in an earlier review is actually a great feature which affords ample privacy which was the actual intent. The cottages are wonderfully appointed, with the exception of easy access to coffee/ice. (Wood flooring is quickly becoming scratched however)

Service at the Front Desk was sorely lacking. They never failed to underwhelm me. Slow/indifferent/very poorly trained. Especially Samantha.

Tips: The Boon Fly has wonderful food. Have breakfast at the bar counter. The female staff member (cannot recall name:() is absolutely wonderful. Very personable and attentive. Gave us great guidedance on exploring the valley. The male waitstaff are sorely lacking in even the basic hospitality skills. Not a gender issue, just the reality. Avoid the private multi-course private dining... Not worth the cost and food is average. On balance, a great faciility. I have personally been involved in the lodging industry for over 20 years. I am somewhat bewildered by the very inconsistant service levels, some which are rudimentary. The property could be well served by a more observant/effective management team.
