“Perfection.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

Um, I want to live here! Seriously one of the best hotels of my life. All the little details are remembered. Romantic and elegant. Fireplace, jacuzzi tub, wine & cheese, soft music & candles at turn down, l'occitane bath accessories, French breakfast in the room, what more could you want!

I admit I cringed when the deposit hit my credit card... Taxes and the service fee add also 30% to the bill- but everything is covered, no tipping. This was a splurge and I'm so glad we did it. The staff was so helpful. The young man working breakfast forgot my decaf coffee and came back 5 mins with it apologizing profusely. The front desk staff was very friendly and informative. We liked the location... 5 mins from downtown napa. We did not have a noise issue but I suppose some people will just look for things to complain about. Beautiful, wonderful, just perfect!

We stayed in 4 premium hotels in northern California over 11 days. This one stood out above the rest for it's excellent service, accomodating staff, and great rooms. It has an excellent location if you have a car, and offered a great breakfast on our private porch overlooking the river. All around a wonderful place. No charge wine and cheese every night with local vineyards presenting their wares nightly, topped of by an open port bar upon your return from the evenings adventures.

We travelled around California for our honeymoon and this hotel was the only one we felt compelled to write about. It was exactly what we wanted - small and intimate. Amazing rooms and an unbelievably high level of service. We stayed at far more expensive hotels in San Francisco, Santa Monica and all along the Cali coast and although they were all lovely we never felt as spoiled and pampered as we did at the Milliken.

Room Tip: We had a river view room. Sitting on the balcony in the evening drinking the local wines was the ep...

This was part of a fly drive holiday that my husband & I took recently. It was our first time in the Napa Valley and found the hotel on Expedia. The hotel was in a lovely location, our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the creek. Our room was fantastic, jacuzzi bath, comfy bed, flat screen tv with lots of channels than a regular hotel, DVD player. There was a mini bar, all soft drinks and water were complimentary. We had a fantastic breakfast each morning in our room, with beautiful warm breads/muffins. The staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. We had a massage in the spa which was wonderful. The grounds were great and very peaceful. Very romantic not for children, staff even lit candles and put on romantic music when we returned each evening. Could not fault anything, we didn't want to leave. Worth every penny or should I say cent! Thank mil liken creek for making our visit special.

We left SFO because it was too cold and arrived in Napa on a Friday night in summer, with no rooms anywhere to be found. Thanks to a cancellation, Milliken Creek was the only place that had a room available. Although it was more than what we were prepared to pay for a weekend, the minute we entered at Milliken Creek Inn we knew it was right. It is a lovely place in a beautiful spot. We loved the room and the little details, that made this place one of the best on our 10 week trip around the world: Breakfast in bed with no extra charge, candles and soft music in the room when you return from dinner, free wine during the day, wine & cheese tastings in the afternoon. Although I agree with some other reviewers that the (young) staff could be better trained or more experienced, it was a perfect stay all in all.

Absolutely delightful boutique hotel, fantastic setting by the creek, wonderfully appointed Milliken rooms are so luxurious you want to live in them forever, friendly and attentive staff plus a free wine tasting complete with excellent cheese board every evening - this place is a little slice of paradise.

Beware – this B & B masquerades as a hotel; which it is not. Moreover, it charges at a rate which would make many hotels blush. Let us start with the good points; the setting is very picturesque and if you are a honeymooner and want fluffy pillows and tea lights in your bedroom at night and a well presented breakfast then this is the place for you. If you are a discerning traveller and want proper service and a warm welcome and value for money then I am afraid it is not.

My wife and I arrived, admittedly around lunchtime and therefore well before the 4pm check in, to be told that we should go away and come back at 4pm. There was no suggestion they would keep our luggage until we asked. We were not offered refreshments (admittedly the wine and water were on display but no offer was made – were we meant to take it ourselves?) or asked how far we had travelled. We didn’t know the area but were given only the most rudimentary directions on finding the best area for lunch in Napa. So much for being “knowledgeable local experts”. For an establishment that sells itself on its service and care for its guests, it was terrible. It did not improve.

We were surprised that during our 2 day stay no one asked what the reason for the visit was (my 60th birthday trip to the West Coast from the UK) unlike all the other hotels we stayed in. It was as if no one cared. They were most interested in when we were going out in the evening so that they could organise the turn down service.

The visit finished as it started – there was nobody available to help with our luggage when we left – the one young lad who covered as porter / bellman was said to be delivering a breakfast – yet we waited well over 5 minutes and he didn’t appear. This was not surprising as it appeared to us that the place was run with minimum staffing levels. The web site doesn’t tell you that there is no member of staff on the premises after 10pm and that you can’t get a cup of coffee ( never mind a sandwich) during the day - or if you can no one told us that you could ( as I said – its not a hotel but a highly priced B & B ). We are used to 5 * service but this establishment did not provide it.

After leaving, we were sent the usual e mail asking for our comments. Remarkably, although we made our views known, we have received no response from the senior management which suggests that the enquiry was just window dressing although judging from the responses to trip adviser postings (which are clearly considered far more important) we shall be seeing the usual anodyne posting in reply to this from Ms Connie Gore, the general manager.
