My husband and I stayed at 1801 First for 4 nights in June 2013 (we stayed in the Carriage House- AMAZING!!) and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to stay or for a more friendly, attentive staff. Blair (the owner), Kali, and Felice were so kind; they truly make you feel like instant friends and not guests. From the gourmet breakfasts (made by an incredible chef), to the nightly cheese and wine hour, to the staff taking care of every last detail of your trip, you will not regret staying at the 1801 First. The whole Inn is immaculate and Blair has thought of every little detail to make your stay more comfortable. There are always cookies, ice cold water, coffee, and tea at your disposal. Another incredible part about the Inn is its location. It is within walking distance to all of the local shops and restaurants in downtown Napa. We could go on and on about how wonderful the 1801 First is! There is not a bad word we can say about it. Not only are we referring all of our family and friends but we are also making plans to go back. We will definitely be return guests.

Room Tip: The Carriage House is by far the best accommodation at the 1801 First. It feels like your own perso...

This B&B was great! The staff was very firendly and the food was amazing. They have a wine/social hour every night that is very nice. I can't say enough good things about them. We would definitely go back.

We just had a terrific long weekend stay at the 1801 Inn. The new owner warmly greeted us and gave us a quick tour of the beautiful old Inn. The staff was great with suggestions on places to go, eat, and sightsee as well as vineyard suggestions and passes to selected wine tastings. They helped with dinner reservations and made sure we had everything we needed at all times without being overbearing. We stayed in the charming carriage house behind the inn. It was beautifully appointed, very spacious, private, and had a great outdoor patio with fountain that we enjoyed. The innkeepers arranged an evening wine tasting (with appetizers) for the Inn's guests with a local vineyard. It was a nice occasion and allowed us to learn much more about wine from a veteran winemaker. The Elkhorn Chardonnay happened to be terrific too. The location of the Inn is very convenient to town - just a 10 minute walk - where there are many shops, wine tasting rooms, and good restaurants. We actually walked to a local bike shop and rode to some of the nearby vineyards. The Inn serves breakfast every day and the food was excellent - a different specialty dish each day as well as a standard continental option or eggs, bacon and potato option. Yes - the orange juice was freshly squeezed. We truly loved everything at the 1801 Inn.

My new wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon on the recommendation of a friend and we couldn't have been more pleased. Upon arrival, we were upgraded from a cottage to the carriage house and we loved it. Very spacious, comfortable, clean, and adorable. We had a nice patio right outside our door that was perfect for having my morning coffee and crossword, and even better for the complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres every evening. The breakfasts were great with different options every day prepared by an in house chef. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone we know going to Napa and will try to get back here again some day.

I needed to go to San Francisco for a business meeting early in the week, so we decided to fly to California on Saturday and spend the weekend in Napa. It was a bit last-minute, but I came across some great reviews of the 1801 First Luxury Inn; not only did guests rave about it, but the price was better than the area hotels. I can safely say that the reviews were spot on! We stayed in the main house, and I was a bit anxious when I saw that our room was along the street and right off the foyer, but everything was fantastic. There was a separate dressing area between our room and the foyer, which minimized any noise and was great for storage. The room itself was perfect, with comfy chairs, a working fireplace (great for the evening), heavenly bed and spacious bathroom. As nice as the facilities were, the service was even better. The wine and cheese gatherings were delightful, the breakfasts were delicious and the entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely go back, only next time we would plan for a longer stay!

We stayed here during a visit to Napa Valley to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and couldn't have been more pleased! The inn is lovely--a beautiful 1903 Victorian home retaining all its original charm, with two cottages and a carriage house behind that also accommodate guests. Our cottage was lovely--rich salmon-colored walls, beautifully appointed room, large jacuzzi tub--and quiet and secluded. Our hostesses--Felice and Kailey--were gracious and solicitous. The breakfasts, prepared by an in-house chef, were to die for--my favorite was the poached eggs over polenta, accompanied by chorizo, and there are always fresh-baked breads to compliment the breakfasts. On one of the evenings a local wine merchant came in to offer a wine tasting of select boutique Napa area wineries, and the inn prepared delicacies to accompany the wonderful wines we sampled. Everything about the inn was perfect! We'll surely stay here again when next in Napa.

Room Tip: Cottages have window air conditioners, rooms in the inn itself have central air. The latter might b...

Went to 1801 First Luxury Inn for a few days as part of my honeymoon. Staff was immediately very helpful with lots of good suggestions and ideas. When we checked into our room, I have to admit, it was even better than I expected it to be. Big, roomy...just a nice place to be.

All in all, this might go down as one of my favourite places I've ever stayed. Great service, food was delicious and the staff were a pleasure to deal with.
