Wow!!! I don't mind spending a little more money as long as the food is worth it, and this was! This was probably the tastiest meal I had on my entire trip! We asked to sit outside since the inside of the restaurant is a bit dark. They seated us in a courtyard that was really pleasant, but we noticed ash landing on our napkins and clothing. Before dinner started, I had to get my napkin replaced because it was smeared with ash. Their pizza ovens shoot out the ash from the chimney and if you are wearing light clothing, you shouldn't sit outside. I have to get my daughter's light taupe shorts dry cleaned because there were ash spots all over her bottom (from sitting on the cushions that had ash flecks on them). We had to wipe a little ash off of our faces as well. After a while, they moved us away from the building to the other end of the courtyard, and it was not as bad. Sit further away from the restaurant if this is an issue. We tried two pizzas, two pastas, and dessert. The pizzas were crispy and flavorful - even the margherita pizza was better than most. The table was torn evenly between this one and the Panna. We were also equally torn between the squash pasta and the pasta with clams. I asked if I could have the pasta with clams prepared with tomatoes/red sauce and the waiter told me the chef will NOT make any changes to his dishes for anyone. Though I am not a fan of a garlic/white wine sauce, the dish was delicious. The pastas are homemade so that's a definite plus. The pastas will run you approximately 17 a dish and are worth it though the size is quite a bit smaller than what you get at most restaurants. But with the quality of this food, I didn't mind the smaller portion. I was also pleased with their extensive selection of Italian wines by the bottle which were reasonably priced. If this restaurant was located near my home, I would be there every week. I met a local in Napa that mentioned she used to eat there every week when she first moved to Napa and it is one of the best meals you will get if you don't want a hyped up scene at a trendy restaurant where most of the ladies were super tight and short dresses. She also mentioned that even Chef Morimoto will stop in after hours occasionally to eat at Oenotri which in itself is a huge compliment to the quality and tastiness of the food.
