3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

decided to try eating here after hearing about it from colleagues. i found that it wasn't as great as expected. The service was a little light and the food was good, not great. a little bland. I will try it again at some point.

“Amazing octopus carpaccio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

The octopus carpaccio is simply divine!

The kakuni was good too and very tender, although a little on the sweet side. Also, not sure the congee added anything to the dish, although it wasn't bad.

One minor complaint about the service. When I made the reservation, I requested, and was told that, we would be given a table by the window if available. When we arrived, the restaurant was half empty and most of the tables by the window were available - but we were given another table instead.

“Shocked how bad it was”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

I was blown away at how bad the food, cocktails and service were at this restaurant. What made things worse is that Mr Morimoto was there himself overlooking every dish. After much anticipation, we made it to the restaurant and I couldn't wait for an extraordinary experience. I had a culinary crush on Mr Morimoto from his TV programs. To make a very long story short, we ordered 4 cocktails, couldn't drink 3 of them (yes they were that bad).... service was horrible (snobby and rude and they spilled water all over our table and my purse and didn't even bother to apologize for it). Worst part was the food itself, some of our appetizers were alright but none were uniquely delicious. Our main courses were average at best. Finally, our sushi was disgusting ... they were serving some dried out sushi and some parts of the fish which frankly should have been tossed out. We ended up not finishing our meals.... left the restaurant all hungry (and paid a nice bill for it)... we ended up grabbing some sandwiches from a local grocery store to erase the disgusting memory of the sushi that we were served. I realize that this story sounds extreme but that was exactly our experience and all 4 of us were completely shocked as well. Afterwards, I spoke to some friends and another couple that we know that a similar underwhelming experience there as well.

“Super great food, very expensive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Really nice meal befitting and Iron Chef - we did the omakase menu - truly wonderful food over many courses (you come out full but not bloated - which is nice!). Very creative, very fun. Nice atmosphere, excellent service. Would definitely recommend it as a special occasion restaurant as it is very pricey!
