Let me start by saying that this is not our first time here and it will not be out last. We stumbled upon this while looking on-line as we prepared for our first trip to Napa a few years back. At that time, we were only able to arrange for a single night thanks to the misfortune of another traveler who had cancelled their reservation. Staying here soured our experiences at other B&Bs for the rest of that trip and we knew that we would never stay anywhere else if we came back to Napa. Fortunately, we have been able to make a few trips back and have always stayed at Oak Knoll Inn. And, as evidenced by the other repeat guests we meet during our stays, we are not the only ones who have chosen Oak Knoll as the only place to stay while in Napa.
My spouse and myself work too hard and too many late nights and this is the place where we come to literally recharge our souls. The atmosphere is welcoming but not intrusive. The food is amazing and indulgent. The rooms are an oasis of calm and comfort. The staff and owners are attentive, gracious, and at times anticipate your needs. And, I have to say, as annual guests, we are treated like family at this point. If there is anything that you would like to do, Shirlee, Vikki, John, or Barb will take care to make arrangements. By now, we do not even have specific requests; we frequently put ourselves in Shirlee's capable hands for selecting wine tastings. She has really served us well and introduced us to what are now some of our favorite wineries.
The breakfasts are the event of the day. Whether served outside in warmer weather, or inside in front of a beautiful fire, they are truly spectacular and taste every bit as delicious as they look. The owner, Barb is a superb cook and she shares her passion each day on the plate. They are every bit as filling as they are decadent and we often do not eat until much later in the afternoon after one of Oak Knoll's amazing breakfasts. In fact, there have been times when our next meal is not until Oak Knoll's wine pouring at 6:00 PM. Whether a winery has been invited to pour for their guests or Barb and John pour from their cellar, the wine is accompanied by a huge platter of cheeses and hors d'oeuvres that often has served as our evening meal. It is not your run of the mill wine and cheese; it is artfully arranged and generously overflowing with hand made treats.
We have never had an experience at Oak Knoll that has not exceeded our expectations; and this is from returning guests. It may not be the least expensive place to stay in the area but some things are worth more than the money you spend.
