“Attractive Property in a Not So Nice Neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

My wife and I just returned from a 5 day visit to Napa. The hotel property is very attractive and the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable including upgrading us to a one bedroom suite because we are Starwood Gold preferred guests. However, the area surrounding the hotel is rather seedy and unattractive. It appears to be a neighborhood in transition with the river redevelopment area containing a number of restaurants a short walk away. Also the hotel pool area is at best average and not a place you would like to lay out for a few hours.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience with us and our TripAdvisor readers. It sounds like you had a good stay and I’m sorry that the location and surrounding area wasn’t exactly what you were expecting. I do agree that some new development is going to be happening in the near future but at this point the one block area between our property and the start of the legendary Oxbow Market is still just undeveloped land.

If your travels bring you back to the area in the next couple years I think you’ll see beautiful changes around Napa. Many of the building projects are just about to begin and the revitalization of our gorgeous downtown is only going to get better.

We’ll look forward to a future visit and have a great fall season.

Be well,

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and were impressed with the attention we received from the staff, starting with a complementary room upgrade and including a surprise split of excellent Napa champagne in our room...accompanied by a card personally signed by every member of the front desk staff. Excellent food...and the bocce court means you won't just have a ball. You could have several...

Room Tip: If it's a special occasion for you, be sure to tell them in advance.

We stayed five days in August and had a great stay. The pool is sometimes a little crowded but that is the only somewhat negative thing I can say. We explored the winery's by day and enjoyed later afternoons by the pool. We took advantage of the running new balance program and had a run with one of the staff who gave us a great workout. The food in the restaurant was amazing. Overall great location. Recommendation and shout out to Eugene, the hotel driver. What a guy, bang on with his recommendations to food at all the restaurant locations he took us to (Domaine Chandon, Celadon and Uva Trattoria). Thanks for a great stay. Highly recommend. Close to everything you need in Napa.

Thank you for the great review and it sounds like you had a very we’ll rounded trip. You had some great food, great wine and even found time to enjoy a quick run around Napa, compliment of our Running Concierge and our New Balance program.

I will pass a long your thoughts to Eugene and we’ll hope to see you again on your next trip down to Napa.

We stayed at the Westin Verasa Napa for two nights, and our daughter and son-in-law joined us for one night. This small, almost all suite property, was a perfect choice for our Napa getaway. The pool area, evening lobby relaxation program, and restaurants were great amenities. Our one bedroom suite gave us lots of room, and was very nicely appointed. For once, I stayed in a hotel that did not have a noisy, cycling HVAC system, keeping me up all night!! All that said, the customer service at the Westin Verasa was beyond compare. From the valets, concierge desk, front desk, wait staff, housekeeping, room service, engineering - the entire team at the Westin was absolutely the BEST I have ever encountered. I give them my highest endorsement. I cannot wait to go back!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool area are very nice.

Thank you for the incredible review and feedback for all of our TripAdvisor readers. We love to hear about our guests special experiences around Napa but more than anything we love to hear about the great service and staff that our guests are able to experience.

We know that our guests have a lot of choices when it comes to staying in nice hotels around the Napa Valley and we know that our associates and our service are what is going to differentiate us in the end.

Thank you again and we’ll hope to see you again soon.

First of all, the wifi is horrible. If you can access it at all, it is slow. Also, I could not get VPN to work trough out the stay.
We got upgraded to a premium suite, which was great. The room is large, with two bathrooms, a large bedroom, sitting room and a kitchen. Also a nice sized balcony, but without any sun.

Valet service was good, quick and service minded. Breakfast was fine, but not memorable. Service was a little ambivalent. The pool is nice, but is usually very noise in the afternoon when people get back tipsy from wine tastings.

Hotel has wine tastings every day, which is nice to explore the wines of the area. Also, the location is nice, with walking distance to downtown Napa, and to Oxbow food market.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback with us and our TripAdvisor readers, and I’m sorry about the lack of internet service. There are areas of the hotel, especially on our 3rd floor, that are worse than others but I want to ensure all of our readers that our entire internet service is being upgraded in the next few weeks.

Also, it’s especially great to hear, with the exception of your breakfast experience, that the service around the hotel was up to the standards you have become accustom to.

Lastly, if you find yourself traveling back to the Napa area please feel free to let us know and we’d love make sure that everything is goes seamlessly.

Because of my Gold Card, we were upgraded to a two room suite. It was not outstanding, but it was nice. I would have given them five stars, except for the fact that I felt the hotel was overpriced. SPG hotels tend to charge too much for everything, especially for food.
The staff at the hotel were wonderful and quite helpful.

Room Tip: Had a room overlooking the pool

Green Features: Typical of SPG hotels....nothing spectacular...I read that they are rated at Bronze level, which is nice

Thank you for the great review and kind words about our service and staff. I’m also glad that we were able to get you upgraded to a two room suite. Although it wasn’t a perfect stay and the prices were a bit high, we appreciate all your feedback and look forward to the opportunity to host you again.

A travel tip, if you have flexibility, is to travel to Napa from early December-April. This is our Cabernet season and the prices are lower, the Valley is much less crowded and the wine never stops pouring.

We’ll hope to see you back then.
