“Do NOT Stay Here!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2009

Please, read the reviews before you book this hotel. I was traveling alone and became very concerned when it seemed I was the only person staying there. It is across from a seedy neighborhood. The hotel is old, and the rooms smell. The air conditioner sounds like a jet engine. The food consisted of stale bread, packaged rolls, luke warm water and coffee, and canned fruit. The desk personel were very rude. I booked through Orbitz and was shocked as it had been advertised as a much nicer place. The worst part is that I had a family emergency and had to leave early. The owner would not give me any refund at all. I was stuck with a $600 bill and only stayed there one night. I will never use Orbitz again either. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn right up the street.

“Good for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2008

Okay, this place is a bit outdated but its clean and the service is great. Breakfast was more than I expected - Hot Food!

They just need to get new bed spreads, curtains and pictures and that would do a world of good. I always bring my own blanket and when I put it on the bed it really refreshed the room - so I would suggest a red bedspread. :)

They should have updated this place when times were good - I don't see it happening any time soon.

My favorite hotel out here is Hotel Avante

“this place is a dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2008

Stayed here for one night on business. The room and the entire hotel were old and disgusting. Due to the smell in the room, I was unable to sleep. I had planned to stay three nights. When attempted to leave the next day, they charged me for a second night saying that I hadn't given enough advance notice.

Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn or Best Western.

“Better than Expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2008

After reading the previous reviews on Trip Advisor, I was really worried about my stay in the County Inn. My boyfriend was attending a 4 day conference conference at the NASA AMES center, and I was traveling with him before vacationing in San Francisco. We wanted an inexpensive place to stay within walking distance, and the County Inn happened to work out really well. The hotel room was clean, and we had none of the problems mentioned in other reviews. We did not use the pool because it was too cold, but I observed it being cleaned daily. The County Inn is located in a nice quiet area, and is about a 20 minute walk away from a nice downtown area with some really good restaurants, and bookstores.

  • Liked — It's general cleanliness and convenience in location
  • Disliked — Nothing

“Not the best place on Earth ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2007

- Telephone system doesn't work very well. Can't even get a clear call between the rooms.
- Breakfast: Avoid it like a plague! The bread stunk, the juice smells odd, the water for tea tepid!
- Location: Excellent, close to the freeway.
- Decor: Haven't been updated since 1970s.
- Internet access: Free wired Internet access.
- Staff: Incompetent! Can't even look up a bill when asked, promised to send the bill over by fax but was unable to do so!
