“great food and service, but a little noise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

I have been going to Xanh since they first opened across the street. Mom, Dad and the two daughters. one on the daughter is no longer active but less not much has changed. I keep going back for many year right now. I think the food is extremely reasonably priced, and tastes really great. I have never been disappointed with the food nor the service. The only thing is when dining inside it can be a little loud.

“upscale fun vietnamese fusion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This is probably the funnest restaurant in Mountain View. Everyone knows it, so it's OK for business meetings. The problem is it can be fine, but it can also be WAY too loud. On some evenings they even have parties and DJs in the front room, which can be fun. The cocktails are not that great - inexpertly mixed. I always like the buffet, because usually you can't sample all their fun rolls and small bahn xeo and get some garlic noodles. But when all is said and done, the food is only good not great.

“Not at all impressed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

At first thought it would be a lovely experience. I saw an entire half of a buffet line devoted to vegetarian foods (so unusual!). The food seemed tasty but a lot of it seemed to taste much the same. It was VERY crowded for a Thursday lunch. The very large (over 30) table seated in our room was VERY loud (and the obnoxious man who at the middle of the table and yelled instructions to the guests as to where to sit didn't help) so the ambiance basically sucked. At a table for six, I could not hear those who were sitting at the far end of the table from me (three people away).

Then the lines at the buffet. Atrocious. Really. You should not have to wait 10 minutes to get through a buffet line for lunch. Ever.

I'm not really sure service was that great either. Seemed better until that very large party started to suck every server out of the nearby rotation. The only way I was able to get anyone's attention was to finally stand up and put my coat on and start to leave. Suddenly someone paid attention.

Finally, every single one in our party got sick. Some more than others. I think I got off lucky because I was the lone vegetarian so I wasn't nearly as sick as some of the others. Really, how could they even ensure cleanliness with 100 people breathing at the food all at once?

My recommendation? Avoid. Avoid this place at all costs. It was not worth the noise, the wait, and then finally, not worth getting sick. Dinner may be better. Ordering lunch off the menu, sitting outside and away from the gorging hordes may be better. But avoid the buffet. Period.

“Used to be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Lunch buffet here has a wide range of options for a fair price though not cheap. The food used to be better though, now things taste somewhat watered down though the place is still popular.

“the short ribs are to die for!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

More of an Asian fusion restaurant than Vietnamese...but delicious not matter what you call it. Pumpkin cheesecake is delicious and the best short ribs I've had in a long time.
