My expectation of a 'customize your burger' proposition is that the result ought to be one heck of a burger. If we started with an outstanding base product, and allowed the customer to totally dress it up their way, it should be a home run.
The base product is just not outstanding - the beef burger is just ok. (My wife is from Montana, and we ship grass fed MT burger and buffalo to CA - we know burgers.)
Dressing the burger up is done well - the cheeses and sauces were all very tasty, so this part works.
For burgers, this is on the $$$ end - you're looking at $8.95 nearly naked, $10.95 moderately dressed, and it's easy to go higher. The fries were excellent, so were the sweet potato fries, and the 'fifty-fifty' of half of each was a nice touch.
Beer selection is quite good - Arrogant B@stard (rare on draft and excellent dark ale) and Lagunitas IPA were the high points for IPA folks.
So - 1 star off for meh burger, and another for value. Our tab was $44 before tip for 2 dressed burgers, a fifty-fifty, a pint of Arrogant B@stard and 2 glasses of wine.
Obviously a fave for well-heeled kids - would not recommend for a date/meeting/conversation.
PS - Big plus that they have a Gluten Free menu, and seemed to understand the importance of correct preparation, cross contamination, etc. Even had a GF beer available.
