“Excellent hotel for business trips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Excellent hotel for business trips. Very helpful, friendly staff. Restaurant is convenient and provides good quality food. Cleanliness is excellent, rooms are comfortable. Internet connection is above average for a hotel. Have stayed here many times and will return again. Highly recommended.

Check-in: Both my wife and I were taken aback. When we got to the hotel, the staff at the counter was not the usual friendly, chirpy and chatty staff - the type that my family have gotten quite used to when holidaying in USA. What we got was a staff that just did what she had to and said very little else or even tried to make small talk. This was a stark contrast to others in the hospitality industry from hotel concerige to bellhops to car valets to even supermarket cashiers.
Room: rather small but clean
House keeping: very prompt with the extra towels that we had requested.

Room Tip: Quite a hassle getting your luggage from your car to the room. The elevators are in the middle of th...

Recently stayed for three nights at the HGI-Mountain View:

PROS:
-Great staff: Front desk and onsite restaurant staff all were very friendly and helpful.
-Clean and quiet rooms
-Microwave, refrigerator available in rooms
-Many local restaurants and other convenience businesses (grocery store, gas station, etc) close by (some within walking distance)
-Easy to get to hotel from I-280 (I try to avoid the 101 whenever possible!)

CONS:
-Nothing major to gripe about at this property. There is small fitness room on property which is nice. THe treadmills and elliptical each had their own personal TV and HGI provided complimentary headphones for use but for some reason none of the headphone jacks worked on any of the equipment. Note a major issue at all.

Overall a great stay.

This hotel was clean, contains a decent gym, and has a very convenient location -- overall a solid choice for someone travelling on business. As someone who enjoys sleeping on very firm mattresses, however, I found the hotel's beds to be much too soft, which kept me from sleeping comfortably night after night. I found the beds to be too soft even after adjusting the bed's dial to "super firm" and also after trying out two different beds.

The Hilton Garden Inn in Mt View is nice, but cramped to get in and out of. Hotel gets booked up heavily, so facilities are taxed. If you try to get a quick breakfast in the morning during the week, good luck. I had to sit out in the lobby. Fitness center was packed by 5:30am! Parking lot gets full by 6:30pm. But, rooms are standard HGI size and quality. Not quite as quiet as the Cupertino HGI, but acceptable for an HGI. Located on the El Camio Real, so access to Silicon Valley locations is easy.

Room Tip: Ground floor gets alot of foot traffic. Some problems with electrical that hotel fixed quickly. Prob...

We just spent one night here, but it was clean, quiet, comfortable and a very pleasant stay. The room was good size and modern, with a microwave and fridge. The lobby is particiularly nice with a cathedral ceiling, gas fireplace and skylights. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast served in the lobby was good, with lots of choices.

Rooms are very clean, comfortable, and of a decent size; hotel has a small pool if you're bringing the kids. Staff is consistently friendly, warm and helpful. There's a shuttle bus service to take you to nearby businesses, but in this area you really need a car--- not a lot of choices for restaurants or bars if you're without a car.

This hotel appears to cater to a business-oriented crowd and as such doesn't have a ton of stuff for the kids to do--- just the pool mentioned above--- not a lot of grass or play area.

There are other hotels closer to the "happening" part of Mountain View-- this location is a little more in the "strip mall" part of town, but the rooms are very quiet and you don't get a lot of street noise.
