“Liked it but didn't like Fox News in breakfast room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2014 via mobile

Liked the quaint atmosphere, but Fox News in the breakfast room was definitely a turn-off. We hope the owners will reconsider that choice. The staff at check-in was really helpful and friendly. Good selection of beer on tap in the bar - the local Mount Shasta lager was lovely.

Nice little place with a forest feel. The decor is very cute and the beds are comfy. The only thing lacking was fresh brewed coffee in their breakfast area. The room coffee just doesn't cut it. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

As soon as I drove by, I made a u-turn because I knew that this was it! Old rustic charm on the outside and every attention to detail in the units. The room was spotless, the staff delightful. I loved it here. I felt pampered and secure.

What a charming, quaint hotel! It was cute, comfortable, and clean... All necessities to me. From the bartenders who smiled their entire shift and make you feel welcome as can be to the front desk girls that I had the pleasure of being helped by, I had a very positive experience. I read reviews before I came, and decided to form my own opinion. Good thing I did, because I had a great experience. Definitely not your usual chain of hotels. There was even a lodge with characteristic that was one of a kind! And a bar! How can you even go wrong here? Needless to say, I'll be back!

This hotel is listed as a 3-star facility! The fact that the bed was good, WiFi worked and a fridge, flat screen TV and microwave were in the room probably would qualify for a 1 star hotel? However, we had a very poor impression of this hotel and cannot recommend it at all. We found a pair of reading glasses on the floor near the table (obviously floor hadn't been cleaned). There was no closet to hang something up, no phone, no pen, no paper, no Kleenex, no TV channel listing, The bathtub water didn't drain, apparently it hadn't been cleaned also, no plug for a hairdryer in the bathroom, however, a fancy bowl for a sink with no place to put your stuff any place. The towels were very small and very thin! The freezer section of the fridge hadn't been defrosted for a while. There were two bedside tables but only one lamp. The alarm clock didn't work. The pillows on the bed were "tired", one could tell from the very thin (almost transparent) pillow cover. The breakfast was very poor: Tasteless coffee, overflowing waste bin, plastic table cover looked "overworked", plastic knives (impossible to spread butter on a toast).

Room Tip: don't have any suggestion

Green Features: there was a remote air/heat control on the bedside table.

Under new ownership. Perfect for someone who dislikes the chain hotel feel. Room was older but very clean with a ton of amenities and great coffee. Kind and courteous staff. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife. They made us feel like long time friends. The bar was a blast at the end of the day ...will definitely be back soon!

This was the dirtiest place I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. If there had been anything else available the weekend we went to a wedding up there, we would have gone there - a nice clean tent would have been better. We had to ask them to come vacuum the floor but that didn’t take the disgusting stains off the floor. There we not screens on the windows and the room smelled awful!! They screwed up our reservation making it for October instead of August. When I received the confirmation email and called them about it, they changed it, but in November we had a charge on our credit card for October and had to make a claim with our credit card company because they wouldn’t fix it. Don’t stay there!!! I am no prude and I can’t afford to stay in expensive places, but I would sleep outside before I’d stay there!!

Firstly, I am sorry to hear about your stay last year. The hotel was under different ownership at that time. Hopefully, you will be able to make another trip to Shasta soon to experience all of the positive changes. Sincerely, Todd & Keli

Ps. The property has been under new ownership since November 2013.
