“Great food, awesome view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

We've visited the Distillery twice, both for lunch, most recently on the Saturday before Father's Day. Although we didn't have a reservation, my party of 11 including 5 children were seated right away in the bar area. We had views of the beach as well as the FIFA World Cup game on TV, haha.

I was pleased to find a ginger beer on the drink menu, which is not something that's typically offered at most restaurants. The chowder was delicious and this time I had the fish tacos (fried with corn tortillas, you can also order grilled fish and flour tortillas). The first time, I had the crab cakes appetizers which were tasty. I thought the tacos were a bit bland, but the fish was fresh. My friends ordered the panko-crusted salmon special, Distillery Steamers and slider trio. One of the sliders was a just-seared salmon "burger" and it was quite yummy. The panko-crusted salmon entree was a good portion and my friend inhaled it. The steamers sauce was just a bit spicy and excellent with the garlic pesto toast.

There are several eating rooms at this restaurant because it used to be a house. It seems all of them have good views, although I've only been in two of the rooms. The downstairs room is much more casual and opens on to the patio which has firepits, benches and a few tables. Food is served outside although not the full menu. The service was friendly, albeit busy.

The restaurant seems to be kid- and dog-friendly which is a plus in my book. I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5 because I thought the entree menu was overpriced, especially for lunch.

Tip: if you don't have reservations for lunch, try to be there by noon when they open. There was a line when we arrived at 11:45am.

“What an amazing gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

A friend took us here otherwise we never would have found it! The view is second to none and the ambiance is amazing with fire pits. Lots of people bring their dogs. There are blankets to keep warm on chilly days. You can go inside and bring food out to the patio. The chicken sandwich was very good, but the food and drinks are over priced. But you're paying for the view.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014 via mobile

The views , whale watching, sitting casually watching life on the water is the draw for most people. The staff are friendly
Only disappointment is over priced not so healthy food to take outside. There is better food upstairs inside

“Gorgeous location overlooking ocean, friendly service, okay food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Remembering a pleasant meal here two years ago, we returned for a weekday lunch, only to be disappointed by the food, which seemed very over-priced for the quality. The fish tacos were very bland and colorless (although it was good to be able to have the fish grilled rather than fried, since so many of the entrees feature fried fish -which did look delicious as orders passed our table, but combined with a huge heap of french fries, the plates were primarily vehicles for enormous amounts of fat and cholesterol....)
The seafood sliders were mixed: crab was good but not great, tuna over-powered by the ginger, and thick bacon on dry salmon. With two entrees, one light beer and one glass of house wine, the tab was over $60 for a lunch that was disappointing. The location and views are spectacular, so perhaps that's why the prices are high, but there are many miles of beautiful views on this gorgeous stretch of coast, so it's worth finding a place where the quality of the food matches the view.
