Spent one night in Morro Bay and decided to eat at the Dutchman. We were craving fish and chips and this place seemed like a place to get good seafood with good ambiance. Being a long weekend, place was crowded when we arrived but folks were getting seated quickly once patrons left. While waiting, I think we saw the owner teaching his grandson ( maybe 7-8 years old) how to use the cash register, was cute to watch. We got seated with 10 mins and had our orders taken. I had the fish and chips with a cup of clam chowder which was voted best in the bay. Was pleasantly surprised that it had the same thickness and consistency as clam chowder from New England, unlike most clam chowders from the San Francisco Bay Area which tend to be very watery and bland. This one was also made with bacon like the ones I had in New England. The fish and calamari were very fresh and well made. I substituted the bistro garlic fries with my fish chips and it was only a $0.99 more, well worth the upgrade. The service staff was extremely friendly and provided great service. We also had the owner come by and checkin on us as well as wish us good night as we left. Nice place for relaxing evening dinner.
