My wife and I stayed at the Ascot for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary in late December. Our overall impression was positive and we will return.
The room had a king size bed, couch, fireplace and a good sized bathroom. We had a view of "the Rock". The decor was English style and pleasant, the room clean and well done.
This was interesting: the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom has a window into the main room. I guess you can sit in there and look across the room to the view. Yes, you can close drapes for privacy in the bathroom!
Wireless internet was available in the lobby. While not advertised for room use, the signal was strong enough for me to use my laptop, a good thing as I was checking on various sight-seeing options all the time and weather forecasts.
The included breakfast consists of fruit, bagels, juice, packages of oatmeal and was good. The dining area is small so I imagine in summer it's got to be crowded. There is a cool observation deck on the roof with tables so you could eat up there.
Plenty of free parking and the location is close to the waterfront and good places to eat.
The staff was very friendly.
We liked it! They gave us a discount coupon for a future stay that we'll use at some point, though probably not in summer.
Morro Bay is well located for visitors. We did the following: Hearst's Castle, sea lion beach, Cambria, Nitt Witt Ridge in Cambria, Montana Del Oro and a bit more.
