The Ascot Suites is the best hotel in California! I stayed there with my family and we have never before been so impressed with a hotel!
There was a wine and cheese hour downstairs in the lounge area, with Chex Mix and Cider for the kiddies! The staff was so friendly and the breakfast buffet is better than any other meal you can get in town!
Despite the fact that there is no pool, the rooftop balcony and garden with spa makes up for it easily. I also loved the Ascot because my favorite coffee shop is right next door!
Stay at the Ascot and tell them I sent you! They also have beautiful room and large comfy tubs! Very clean!

My wife and I stayed at the Ascot for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary in late December. Our overall impression was positive and we will return.

The room had a king size bed, couch, fireplace and a good sized bathroom. We had a view of "the Rock". The decor was English style and pleasant, the room clean and well done.

This was interesting: the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom has a window into the main room. I guess you can sit in there and look across the room to the view. Yes, you can close drapes for privacy in the bathroom!

Wireless internet was available in the lobby. While not advertised for room use, the signal was strong enough for me to use my laptop, a good thing as I was checking on various sight-seeing options all the time and weather forecasts.

The included breakfast consists of fruit, bagels, juice, packages of oatmeal and was good. The dining area is small so I imagine in summer it's got to be crowded. There is a cool observation deck on the roof with tables so you could eat up there.

Plenty of free parking and the location is close to the waterfront and good places to eat.

The staff was very friendly.

We liked it! They gave us a discount coupon for a future stay that we'll use at some point, though probably not in summer.

Morro Bay is well located for visitors. We did the following: Hearst's Castle, sea lion beach, Cambria, Nitt Witt Ridge in Cambria, Montana Del Oro and a bit more.

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights at the Ascot this week because we saw the great reviews on Tripadvisor. We couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. The price was beyond reasonable for what the guests receive, even for a supposedly "standard" room. For less than $120 per night (+ an invite to extend our stay for another night at $99) we couldn't believe the value! We had a gorgeous view of the Rock (and, thankfully, NO view of the power plant next to it!). The room had a whirlpool tub, big enough for two, with strong adjutable jets in the bathroom (including a window to view the Morro Rock!), a gas fireplace (also viewable from the tub!), plenty of cable channels with free HBO, a VCR (and video stores nearby) and a very comfy canopy bed with down pillows. Note of caution! Use bubblebath sparingly because the tub jets increase the bubbles about 10X! No kidding! That was fun, but we had to scoop the bubbles into the sink and drain the tub to keep the bubbles from taking over the room! ha ha ha
There was a free wine pouring in the lobby between 5:30-6:30 (4 wines to choose from), a minifridge/minibar in the room (which was nice to store dinner leftovers etc.), and a rather extensive, free "continental" breakfast with trays to bring the food to your room if you wanted even more privacy. The staff were all very friendly and the location is walking distance to the beach, shops, local markets and Morro Rock itself. There was a nice sun deck on the roof of the hotel with beautiful views and even more niceties that I can't recall... Thanks to all the tripadvisor users for the great tip! We will definately return!

  • Liked — In-room jacuzzi tub for the excellent price
  • Disliked — Room decor (could do without the floral wallpaper, silk flowers, whimsical paintings, etc...)

We had a lovely time at the Ascot suites. Rooms were well appointed with king size bed, sofa, jacuzzi tub and fireplace. We enjoyed the wine tasting in the afternoon and the continental breakfast had lots more than just a muffin and coffee one finds in other hotel. The one slight drawback was the view from the rooms which are just ok. However the view from the rooftop outdoor lounge was more than satisfactory. The hotel was centrally located and in walking distance to the waterfront and resturants. We recommend this hotel. Check their website for specials not offered on the commercial sites. Big discounts!

My husband and I just returned from a three night stay at the Ascot Suites for our first year wedding anniversary. The hotel was all that we expected and more! Our king suite was decorated beautifully and extremely comfortable. It contained a king canopy bed, full size sleeper sofa and chair, gas fireplace, large balcony, and best of all, an enormous soaking tub with whirlpool jets. There was a window on the wall next to the tub between the bathroom and bedroom through which you could watch TV or close the curtains for more privacy. The location of the hotel was perfect- just within walking distance of everything, the Embarcadero and the Olde Towne area. Many great restaurants abound. We particularly enjoyed the hotel's large selection of food for their continental breakfast as well as their wine reception each evening which included snacks and games on each table. The hotel's staff was extremely friendly. Even though we showed up two and a half hours before check in time and our room was not yet ready, they made time to to rearrange other guests' rooms so that we could get into our room right away. The Ascot Suites truly made our first anniversary a memorable getaway.
