“Relaxing Getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

We booked this hotel on the way home, this hotel have two separate buildings, we need to walk across the street to the front desk and breakfast area, overall this hotel is a nice getaway, lots of shops and restaurants nearby, the main reason we selected this hotel to check out the giant Morro Rock.

Hotel is in a great location in Morro bay. The view was the most impressive thing. we prefer rooms with a balcony as we like to sit outside at night with a glass of wine. The view was amazing - we could see right out to the rock, we could hear the sealions playing in the water and we were across the street from the bars and restaurants in the town. everything was within walking distance. we didnt book in advance, instead walked in on the off chance. our rate was decent $90 per night, however I believe we could have got cheaper online. the receptionist was lovely and showed us afew rooms before we made our selection. room and bathroom nice and big, only thing i would comment on is that it is a little old fashioned in the decor.. however it was lovely and comfortable, great night sleep and even slept with balcony doors open so we could hear the sea. perfect!

Room Tip: rooms below the reception area have balconies and a great view.

We stayed one night at the Blue Sail Inn. There are two buildings: the main building with both the office and the complimentary breakfast room, and the annex building a little up the hill. We were in the annex building in Rm 206 by the elevator. A tree blocks part of view of the harbor. Our three smart phones worked on the free wi-fi, but we were informed that our notebook required manual configuration of the settings before it could access the network, and we were not inclined to bring our computer to the other building at night to get the notebook configured by the lady at reception. We didn't eat breakfast. Breakfast ends at 9 am. Check-out is at 11 am. There was lots of free parking, and the lady at reception was friendly and helpful. In the morning there were sounds of trucks picking up dumpsters, but it was after 8 a.m. when we were awake. Room 206 is a bit noisy because families pass it going from the elevator/stairs to their rooms at the other end of the hall. The price was reasonable for the facilities that were provided.

Room Tip: The best views in the annex building are the even numbered rooms from 210 to 220 and from 310 to 320...

The Blue Sail Inn is a reliable, reasonably priced choice of lodging in
Morro Bay. Cleanliness, a friendly staff, good parking, a generous 24 hour
(vs 48 or 72 hrs) cancellation policy, and great location
have made this a family favorite over the years. A basic breakfast is served
daily in the embarcadero view breakfast room. An upgrade of the coffee
to a richer, local brew would be so welcome and the beds in the rooms could definitely
be more plush. We love the fitted sheets, but the slippery mattress covers
and the very firm mattresses kept me from giving this inn a 5 rather than a 4.
Still for many years we have made Blue Sail Inn our first choice.

Room Tip: The city view rooms above the parking area are a great value.

Great hotel. Beautiful views of the bay and the Morro rock. We stayed for two nights. Sat on our balcony and watched the world go by. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly. Would recommend very highly.

The Blue Sail Inn has an unbeatable location. It is a block away from the main pier/wharf in Morro Bay with lots of shopping and restaurants. And 2-3 blocks in the opposite direction is another street of small, quaint shops.

I had a room with two double beds and an ocean view. The room was on the second floor and was quite spacious. The view was very good and it was nice to leave the windows open to hear the water at night. The beds were comfortable, room was clean. The decor was very funny. The bedspread had seashells on it and the wallpaper was a dolphin boarder with an ocean wave-like wallpaper covering the remaining wall by the sink. The decor certainly wouldn't deter me from staying here, it was just a quirky thing I thought was funny. Plus, Morro Bay is a quirky town, so it fits!

The hotel staff was very helpful with both advice for Morro Bay and the surrounding areas.

I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor- they have great views!
