“Good accommodations and great location for price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2010

I stayed 2 nights at the Bay View Inn. After reading some of the reviews here, I was a little apprehensive but decided to just go for it, and I'm glad that I did. Is it a fancy place? No. But it is clean and safe, and a great value for the price. There were some stains on the carpet, the furniture is older stuff, but it all worked and there was no smell, no mildew, etc. I was in the room with the king bed, fireplace and view of the bay. The fireplace isn't a crazy roaring fire, but it does add some ambience and charm. And no, it's not sweeping views of the Pacific, but c'mon, it was about $80 a night! I actually booked the room for the purpose of studying for an exam that I have coming up in Dec. I'm 38, not a college student - in the midst of a career transition - I've definitely stayed in really posh places, but I couldn't justify a big hotel budget for this particular trip. Just needed to get out of LA for a few days, relax and focus on studying. So I was actually in the room for a lot of the 2 days, and I felt totally comfortable there! I did bring up a big warm throw to put on the bed (ALL hotel spreads are unappealing, so I knew this would be nice since I'd be in the room a lot) and I'm really glad I did. Made the bed much cozier to lay in while studying. The people running the hotel were polite and friendly, and I had zero issues there. Location-wise, it could not be better! I took some study breaks to get food and window-shop, and it was sooo nice! And from the room I could hear sea lions. Oh yeah, the wifi was fine. So overall I was very pleased with my choice of the Bay View Inn. Just be realistic! It's a budget price, you're getting a budget room in a great place.

We stayed at the Bay View Inn only one night, but definitely will return. The room was spacious, had a nice view of the harbor (one block up hill from the ocean front), the best price in town and, oh yes, the in-room fireplace was great.

with a great location and views from many rooms this property is a good value.but some things need to br improved, the spa looks like it has been dry for several
years-it should not even be mentioned to prospective customers.the continental
breakfast is sad, juice and packaged rolls,no coffee-tho the rooms have coffee
makers-but still?
our room was great, with a view of the rock and bay.the fireplace worked fine, the bath room was clean-bed a little hard for us.
best of all was the short walk to favorite restaurants and bakery-we walked the nearby
streets several times a day.

Fourth of July in Morro Bay! the Manager is friendly and outgoing. The room is large and clean. As with many independent motels struggling in this economy there are signs of deferred maintenance but not so much as to diminish the good value of this location. If you want a clean well located and spacious room you will enjoy this place.

I have stayed at the Bay View Inn on several occasions over the last ten years. It has always been comfortable, clean, and quiet. It is just one block up from the wharf area where all the shops and restaurants are. The rooms are large for a hotel in this price range and include a gas fireplace. There are no air conditioners, but they are not needed. All one has to do to cool a stuffy room is open a window and the breeze from the sea cools the room down in seconds.

Is there room for improvement? Isn't there always? I would suggest they get a better quality pillow and supply four instead of three. Also a stiff bristled brush to the hard to reach corners on the inside of the shower would be beneficial. But these are really minor complaints. The location, management, and overall value is why I rated this a four out of five and that's only because there is no provision for giving a four and a half.

The Bay View Inn is not a four star hotel, and it does not purport to be. It gives good value for money and provides a clean, comfortable place to stay.

We have stayed at this hotel for the last 4 years because it has covered parking for our Hotrod and is very close to Main Street where the car show is. They are really letting this place go. We always get the same room with Fireplace & King Size Bed. Fireplace didn't work, heater didn't work unless you turned it all the way up and tapped on it. What's with that! It also didn't shut off when it reached set temperature. Soap was the size of a 50 cent piece and the towels were thread bare. Generally speaking the place needs major updating too! Not staying there again.

Great Location, a block from the ocean. Most rooms have a ocean view and a view of the rock. Near tons of shops and restaurants. Rooms were good sized with fridges and microwaves. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are outdated. Fireplace did not work. Outdoor Jacuzzi does not look like it has worked in years. A decent room if you are trying to save a buck.
