“Worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We stayed there for only one night and were impressed. The motel is clean, well run and the owner along with his family are very polite. The room was clean and tidy and worth the money. The only thing someone could complain about is the room was a little dated, however the bed was comfortable and it was close to the embarcadero. The "dated issue" was like who cares, we liked the place and will be back again. Oh yeah..had a cool fireplace in the room which was nice..

Room Tip: The top floor rooms have easy access to a nice patio to watch the sunset..

This was our first visit. We paid extra for an ocean view, but the room was still a bargain. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and DVD player came in handy. We stayed 2 nights. All in all a very nice experience.

Room Tip: Even rooms without an ocean view were nice.

Just a quick overnight stay, but I found the Bay View Inn very clean, comfortable and convenient. The walls are a little thin, but everyone was quiet by 10 pm. Andy, the manager, is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Took a chance on this hotel. Saw some bad ratings but got some good feedback from friends that had stayed there before. Really loved the fireplace in the room. Decent view of the bay & Morro Rock. Only a block away from the embarcadero & shopping / dining. We thought it was the perfect location. Also a block away from the farmers market that was going on that weekend too. Couple of good lil pubs a couple of blocks away with pool tables & live music. They are still doing some renovations but its looking good. Breakfast was minimal....store pasteries & juice but didn't mind since we eat light in the morning. Only bad thing for us was no pool or spa! :( Other than that....we will stay here again.

Room Tip: opt for the fire place room with a view.

A horrible stay. The lady at the desk was very rude and unwelcoming. The room smelled old and musty. The mirror was dirty...and stayed that way for 2 days! When I turned the shower on it leaked at the top and spayed water clear across the room onto the mirror! When I came out of the shower condensate from the ceiling dripped onto me because there was no fan for ventilation. Fortunately the condensate did not loosen the black hair that was stuck to the ceiling! The shower faucet was countersunk into the tile and there was a big hole around it. The towels would scrape the hair off a horse. They had attempted to paint the room but missed many spots, dripped paint in others and painted over door hinges in the bathroom. When they changed the bed they folded the dirty sheet and dropped it on top of the bedspread...didn't change the sheets! The fireplace had a small glow that was supposed to be a fire I guess. The window was cracked. We have nothing good to say about this place. Avoid it if you can. If you cannot...sleep in your car, you'd be better off.

I loved it here, it was bright and clean as a whistle. Small room for 2 of us but it was very relaxing and had everything we wanted. The breakfast arrangement was just fine and you help yourself to fruit, cakes or waffles in a communal "Galley" room. Plenty of tea and coffee and even some cold drinks left for us in the room fridge. And on top of that a free cinnamon bun that was huge from the bakery next door of a morning.

The hotel is situated on the front overlooking the bay and central to everywhere with easy parking right outside. Morro Bay is such a pleasant place (except for the horrible power station).

All our appliances worked just fine and the shower was right up to date and very refreshing. The lady in the office (who i thought was the owner) was pleasant and a bit wacky with a good sense of humour and very helpful.

This hotel is ideally situated for traveling between L.A and San Francisco. It is quiet, clean and comfortable and I would have no hesitation in recommending it or staying there again.

My wife and I have stayed here during our annual visit to Morro Bay for many years. It's not a luxurious lodging, but very satisfactory for budget seekers. The rooms are old, but clean. We like the location on the bluff overlooking the waterfront and Morro Rock, but with a short walk to the town's bookstore, coffee shops, music store, and old-fashioned single-screen movie theater that changes movies every Friday. Andy, Bay View Inn's proprietor, pointed out that this year I had booked the room on Expedia rather than contacting him directly. Big mistake. We could have saved $20 per night! BTW, there is a healthy live music scene along the Central Cal Coast. Check the local entertainment weeklies. You can also drop in to Central Coast Music on the main drag to chat with the local musicians who hang out there. The store itself was once a vaudeville house that still has the original stage and lighting loft from the turn of the (last) century.
