“A first class surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2009

I really didn't expect a Four Seasons experience at this exquisite inn. The Anderson's have succeded in getting everything perfect right down to the smallest details. My desire to see the 180 degree view of the bay was necessary to get me out of the best of all possible beds. That along w/ flat screen TV and all ammenity extras made the visit reminiscent of Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton resorts. The connected, warm, friendly and delicios Galley Restaurant make it difficult to wander off the property. All inns could learn a lesson from what the Anderson Family has accomplished!
Thank you, Alex from Carmel-by-the-Sea

Anderson Inn is a delightful, small boutique inn situated on the waterfront at Morro Bay. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners who give personal attention to every detail of a guests stay. The room we had was tastefully decorated . It had the very latest in shower technology in the bathroom - absolutely delightful experience when showering. The room was clean and well presented. I wish we could have stayed at Anderson Inn much longer than we did. Good restaurant next door.

Our stay was wonderful!! The Inn is small - you feel like you're spending the night at a friend's house. It is spotless and beautifully decorated with very tasteful furnishings that are not mass-marketed, generic "hotel furniture". You're not in a hotel room, you're in someone's guest room. There was a gorgeous view of Morro Rock and the bay, complete with pelicans, seals, seagulls, and so many other sailing & soaring birds. Staff is genuinely friendly, helpful, and sharp. We didn't want to leave.
If that weren't enough, we had dinner at the restaurant downstairs, the Galley. It was one of the best meals I've ever had - salmon, rice pilaf, veggies and wine. My husband had halibut with the same reaction. Dessert was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, ice cream, and fresh raspberries. I died and went to heaven.
It was a Tuesday night but the place was busy - very social and fun. Lots of local folks tells me that it's a quality place with history and a reputation.
Go - you've gotta go. It's a great place!

This is hands down the most wonderful place you will ever stay. The rooms are impeccable, and the owners are admirable. Morro Bay has the most beauitful setting and this small inn definitely adds to the attraction. You literally stay right on the water where you can view the seals and otters splashing around in the water below. The owners truly make sure that your experience is memorable.

Stayed two nights. The rooms are very large and well appointed and quiet despite being on the waterfront. The owners very friendly and helpful. A great stop-over on our coastal drive from San Francisco to LA. Try the attached restaurant, run by the same family...the best in town. The only down -side is the (very large) power plant on the edge of town (why!!)

Morro Bay is just an hour and a half north of Santa Barbara, but each and every time I arrive here, I feel as if I'm in another world! I'd heard about the Anderson INN from a friend who stayed there a couple of months ago, and he couldn't stop talking about it's size (small boutique) location (right on the waterfront at Morro's "Embarcadero") and friendliness. You can't beat owner-operated gems, and Mollie and Jeff Anderson evidently take the ultimate pride in the property; their father originally developed it as The Galley Restaurant. Everything's new here, the INN, and also the cool new Galley Restaurant located just below the INN...My room stood out over the water, and I had views of Morro Rock, the fog as it came and went, the birds, otters, seals - it was all a non-stop parade of nature just outside my window. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and the shower was dreamy!
An ideal location in the middle of the Morro waterfront. Three steps to the equally-wonderful Galley Restaurant. "I'll be baaaack!"

We thought we had found the best place to stay on the front end of our trip, when we found an even better Inn at another can't pass bargain! It was a Sunday night, been driving most the day, windy windy day in Morro Bay. We passed up two other Inn's to go back to that blue building on the waterfront row of tourist shops. We were greeted by Molly Anderson who was giddy we chose their gem of an Inn. We were giddier when she quoted us another can't pass up price for the best room in the house. A spaciously comfortable room over looking the harbor, and a unobstructed view of Morro Rock to wake up to. All local things to do were within walking distance to the Anderson Inn, including their highly touted Galley Restaurant. While we didn't eat at the Galley, we did purchase a great bottle of wine to share in the privacy of our comfortable room. Though the evening was windy and cool, we ended up sleeping with the sliding door open to our balcony, while waking to the calls the gulls in the morning's dawn of the new day. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!! Reserve a room ON the water. It's worth the extra $$!
