You might have grown up eating hard shell tacos filled with ground beef, but that does not mean what many places currently pass off as Mexican food (burritos) in the USA is not even close to the real thing. Most Mexican places cater to the Mexican-American and while that it not a bad thing, it is hardly authentic compared to what native Mexicans eat.
Mexico has many culinary treasures that extend beyond tacos and D.F. Tamales has captured the real taste of Mexico by presenting antojitos, which can be be described as something in between a snack and a full meal.
Do not be surprised that the quesadilla here looks nothing like the ones at many Mexican restaurants. Again, you are getting the real deal here. The few vegetarian options in quesadillas (Huitlacoche and Flor de Calabaza) are sure to satisfy the palate of any non-meat eater or the generally curious like myself.
Only downside is limited seating (less than 20 capacity) and no restroom although a hand sanitizer is available adjacent to the counter.
