I noticed that the service and food quality has deteriorated at this Applebee's in recent months. There are too many seaters, servers, order takers and so on and this can lead to miscommunication and incorrect food delivery to our tables. The staff is bright and cheery, but it makes me wonder how much is genuine. Sometimes there is a rowdy bunch at the bar that push the noise level up a bit to high.
Much of our group's food was either overcooked or undercooked and didn't look at all like what appeared on the glossy menus. My steamed veggies were overcooked on one side of the plate and nearly icy cold on the other. What reached our table could only rate as average at best and typical of many chain restaurant operations.
I have heard that most Applebee hot dishes are made in a factory in East L.A. or something, trucked to each store, then nuked just prior to serving. I did notice their kitchen floor area seemed to small in proportion to the customer seating area. You be the judge! They are improving their 'healthy choice' categories little by little but most dishes were loaded with cheesy sauces, heavy pastas and other high-calorie embellishments. The decor and restrooms were OK and there was plenty of parking in the general area. Diet Coke products were offered; sorry, no Pepsi.
Bottom line: Unfortunately this apple's gone bad lately due to too many changes in management, menus and a 'who cares?' approach to genuine customer satisfaction. I'd advise skipping this particular Applebee's and look for something else nearby.
