If you're craving a fountain of 'autentico' Mexican dishes, especially Sonoran & Sinaloan Ranchero fare, La Fuente #5 is a good choice. Actually, more Latino folks seem to dine here than Anglos, and for good reason. The facility is in a typical strip mall, 1/2 mi north of the 60 Freeway at Ironwood, but you should enter off Heacock if possible. The dining area is ample and the restrooms are clean. The Mexican murals motif is pleasant.
I tried the shrimp dishes and the delicious Mazatlan Salad, washing it all down with zesty tamarindo soda. All serving portions were very large and many folks took that second meal home. Service is a bit slow and some staff does not speak English but they understand Spanglish fine. Some staff did not seem all that friendly but I didn't take it personal.
Bottom line: This is good honest and not-fancy Mexi-merican chow at low prices in a neighborhood location yet freeway-close. I recommend that you give it a try.
