“Love The Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We checked in after a very long day and late at night. Customer service wasn't really a focus, but they were polite so I didn't really care. The rooms were giant and bigger than what I expected from a Comfort Inn. It was well designed. Parts of the room seemed a bit dated but it wasn't that bad. I didn't mind the wooden shutters. The breakfast wasn't too bad, it was kind of nice.

Our flight out of Monterey was delayed a day and when the airline told us they were putting us in the Comfort Inn right by the airport, I feared for the worst given that we were just coming off of a beautiful vacation in Carmel. However, the hotel served its purpose, was clean and set up a clean (looked brand new) pack n play for our 2 year old daughter we had with us. The room iteslf was fine, the property has nice flowers and is inviting. The bathroom was the only thing that was dark and a little dated. However, if you find yourself needing to stay here you will find it to be a pleasant experience.

I reserved two rooms and was quite pleased with what we were given. There were two families travelling, and they automatically put us side by side. We liked that the rooms were fairly large, and could accommodate all eight of us easily as we discussed our vacation plans. Anyway, here is a summary of the facility:

Good comments: The bay window and shutters were very nice; we liked the high ceilings; the beds were comfortable; the rooms were spacious; we liked the two sinks - one on the inside and the other on the outside of the toilet area; medicine cabinets were a nice touch; tons of storage area; long bathroom counter handled three girls getting ready at once!

Bad comments: The floor above us was creaky, so we heard everyone on top of us; and the staff was mediocre. They didn't really greet or welcome us - they just did the bare minimum.

Room Tip: The 200 building is perfect if you want quiet accommodations. There are fewer rooms in that wing, a...

This is the second time we've stayed here on business, and we will be coming back. We were referred by a friend of the hotel family, and very thankful for that referral. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean, and comfortable. We had specific needs and those needs were very graciously attended to by the staff. They even allowed us the temporary use of their own office equipment, and they did it with a smile.
This hotel is only minutes from the waterfront, walking distance to the airport, and a very short drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea. It's tucked in among thick shade trees, and provides a nice, quiet place for rest. Rise early, have a cup of dark roast coffee on the covered balcony, start the day fresh with a well rounded, fine, free breakfast, and enjoy a carefree day in Monterey. This is an enjoyable hotel, and I would recommend it to any business traveler, friend, or family member visiting the Monterey area.

Room Tip: The suites with fireplace, separate tub and shower, King size bed, flat screen TV, couch, desk and c...

Got to the property just after midnight, so it was dark and we were tired and just wanted to get some sleep. Got a non-smoking room with 2 queen beds and used AAA for a discount. I can honestly say that we saw no bed bugs and that the beds were very comfortable and clean. The room looked like it had recently been modernized and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. In the morning we explored the property and found that it had a nice "woodsy" feel, almost lke you were at a campsite. The free breakfast selection was much nicer than we have experienced at other more expensive properties, so that was a plus. Wife and kids enjoyed it so ultimately I enjoyed it as well. We will probably stay here again in the future.

We've stayed at this property before as it is closest in proximity to Laguna Seca when in town to race; but this time was put in a room with visual bed bugs - I even killed a few of the bigger ones and left them for the staff to see.

We informed the staff at 11pm after settling in and noticing multiple bed bugs and they debated with me on the legitimacy of my complaint. They did change my room, but following day at check out decided to deduct only $60 from my bill vs. comp'ing the entire stay. Honestly, at this point it's not about the money just the principle.

They refused to believe they have bed bugs, and insisted they were being fair with the price "reduction." The manager on duty claimed they were full (which is a bad argument regardless) plus I know for a fact they were not because my entire Hallway of rooms were vacant and they easily moved us one room over.

The staff was incredibly rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and bottom line didn't take into account the time and effort required for us to fumigate our clothes and luggage after returning from their dump. Shame on them.

Bottom line if you're a racer or just visiting Monterey, spend a little more money staying somewhere else and avoid this place.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!

the room was nicely sized and comfortable, and it was clean. The trim around the bathroom door needs replacing, but they did try to cover it with caulk in the nicest way they could. It would be better to simply replace the entire door trim. They don't have any king sized beds, so if you need one you'll have to stay elsewhere. The breakfast was okay, that's it. The warming tray was set so low it did not adequately heat the eggs and sausage, which was unfortunate, because if it had then the breakfast would have been fine.

Room Tip: The trash pickup happens at 5 AM Fridays and it's directly outside the 100 Bldg. You may want to...
