“Great Hotel, Great Manager Pat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

The Comfort Inn Monterey Peninsula Airport motel is very nice, quiet and clean! I really liked when I came in around 9:30 p.m. and met the manager, Mr. Pat. He was a wonderful man, very warm and friendly. I was also in Room 305 which was very quiet and exceptionally clean. I had the most wonderful maid service ever!!! I wish I could pronounce the girl's name, but I loved her! I was there from August 26 - September 2nd. This hotel is very close to the airport, (like a block and a half away). If you don't have a lot of luggage, you can practically walk there. Cab service is expensive, so it is best to rent a car. This hotel is far from downtown Monterey, so I recommend a GPS in your car to get you around. If you want away from the noise or hustle/bustle of the evening at Monterey or the traffic, I recommend this hotel. The breakfast is wonderful, sausage, eggs, yogart, banannas, apples, waffles, toast, boiled eggs, fresh pastries, muffins, apple juice, coffee, and it is complimentary, you don't have to pay anything for it. It can last you at least until dinner. Good sitting area, but you also have to option to take the food to your room. The grounds are clean and quiet. There is a complimentary Wall Street Newspaper at the front desk. I wish all hotel managers were as nice as Pat. He was awesome!! Thank you.

Room Tip: Room 305 has a patio balcony. It was kept very clean every day I was there. This is a very quiet a...

Room was great! Beds were comfortable, bathroom was large with a jetted tub. Atmosphere of the room was very relaxing and the bathroom had a spa feeling. Staff was very nice and helpful. Free breakfast was great aside from the limited seating. I would absolutely recommend this motel!

Room Tip: There are no elevators...so if you have a lot of luggage you may want to request a room on the first...

I was hesitant to book a room near an airport, but friends were staying there, so I decided to take the risk. Much to my surprise, this hotel is VERY quiet... even with the windows opened I could barely hear aircraft.

The grounds were immaculate, as well as the room. Room size was larger than expected with a nice balcony overlooking the vast forest of trees. You'd never know you were just blocks away from an airport.

Check in was swift and guest services was top notch. Breakfast in the morning was fresh with lots of available options (waffles, sausage, eggs, yogurt, toast, cereals, juices, coffee, etc.).

Clearly a new favorite of mine in the Monterey bay area!

Room Tip: Top floor corner units are the best!!

I had a second floor room (no elevator) in a setting that was not what I expected. The balcony made the room seem larger and added great air circulation since none of the rooms are air conditioned. If it's hot, I could see that being a problem. The internet was acceptable, but not the best. The most important things were excellent. The shower was fantastic. The bed was great. The breakfast was typical for a Comfort Inn. Unless the temperature is above 75 degrees, I would stay here again.

Really good standard for a motel - comfortable, queen-size beds, very clean with a high standard of interior decor / furniture. Lovely staff - very polite and friendly. A massive step up in quality from the Motel 6 we'd stayed the night before - without a massive step up in price. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling in the area.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room in Building 100 (I think!), and it was very quiet. Didn't hear any nois...

I am really enjoying the boutique style motels during this indefinite road trip. If I can get a place like the Comfort Inn over Motel 6, you bet I am going to take it. Fairly large rooms, tiled bathrooms, desk away from the bed and refrigerator and microwave are right next to the desk. Nice headboard and furniture. Very minimalist, but my preference is to have more than one piece of art on the wall. Fluffy pillows! The bed could use the faux down comforters like the Quality Inn in Oakland, California. The upgrade would tremendously help!

I imagine this motel is very busy during the spring and summer. A couple of restaurants are in walking distance and this is a safe area.

Unfortunately, the walls are thin. I am not sure much can be done about this. I could hear the couple chatting last night and this morning....

The internet was great! No problems at all.

Sweet, clean and quaint!!!

I would stay here again.

I stay in this hotel for weeks at a time every winter for work and doubt that you will find a better value. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the terminal at the airport which is very convenient. The area is very quiet and relaxing. One of the best things about it is the people who run it. Pat, Hanna and their family are wonderfully gracious and always accommodating. The prices are very reasonable. They have a nice continental breakfast that always hits the spot.

I will agree with other reviewers about not having air conditioning in the summer, but they will give you a fan to put in your room that will do a very good job of cooling it down. I always get a room on the top floor because it is much quieter. The one thing that I will have to agree with, unfortunately, is the wireless service. I probably stay in 50 or more hotels a year and the service here is pretty poor. If the hotel isn't crowded it usually isn't that bad. I travel with a wireless card from my employer, so it really isn't much of an issue.

If you are looking for a great value in Monterey, I highly suggest that you go see Pat and Hanna. They will take good care of you.

Room Tip: Stay upstairs, its quieter
