After a disappointing bowl of chowder on the tourist trap of Fisherman's Wharf, my wife and I were cruising the quiet Monterey streets on Sunday morning looking for something genuine for breakfast. The Paris Bakery Cafe looked pleasantly busy on the inside with steady traffic, so we joined the crowd. Excellent choice.
My wife had the rosemary quiche lorraine. It was eggy, creamy with a nice balance of rosemary flavors. My bowl of oatmeal was overpriced at $3.85, but was good; steel cut oats would have been nice.
We left with a chocolate covered macaroon; it was good, though the coconut was a bit dry.
The baked good sections was extensive and demands a return visit. Next time in Monterey, we will.
