“Great Location Great Price!Free Breakfast/Wifi/Parking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

I stayed at the Stevenson Hotel on April 30th. The location was great and the price was awesome! The room just renovated and had a 10 foot marble shower. Georgeous! The front were very welcoming recommended and 10 minute walk to dinner on the Warf at Dominico's restaurant . The view of the sea lions and the sailboats were very nice as well as the food we ordered. I ordered white sea bass and Bay Prawns and also enjoyed the free appetizer of Calamari !!YES FREE!! I definetley reccommend staying at the Stevenson Hotel.

stayed here for 2 weeks from 11/04/15 to 25/04/2015, the hotel was having extensive renovation during our 2 weeks there, and the builders were amazing, we didnt even know they were there, no noise, no mess, just politeness from them when we did see them, well done on that score, we had a renovated room on the 2nd floor which was immaculately clean every day, loved the power shower such power, hotel is on a busy road but i never found it a problem, its a 5 minute walk from the wharf which was handy as we whale watched alot, great location, friendly staff and fresh continental breakfast daily, if you want peace and quietness then book to stay in the middle of a field cos this is a central location hotel, would of liked a fridge in the room, but apart from that i would deffo stay here again and recommend it to anyone, great value, great staff, great location

Chose this place for location and price as well as their willingness to store bags for me while I biked down the coast. Glad to have found it- clean rooms, comfortable and spacious. Had friendly and helpful staff including proprietor Craig Smith who had some great local insight. Will gladly stay here again.

Just a basic hotel, spacious rooms, clean and comfy beds, The shower was great but our drain appeared to have trouble draining water properly and there was a bit of water pooling in the shower. We stayed in a bottom floor room and i found to be noisy both from outside noise as well as being able to hear footsteps from the rooms above. Overall a pleasant and comfortable stay. The free breakfast was one of the better continental breakfasts I have had offering a few more options than the standard continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Maybe try a room the isn't on the ground floor to avoid some of the noise.

We stop at the Stevenson for 1 night, while we were doing the Pacific Cost Highway and it exceeded our expectations.
The room was big, comfy and clean, although the bathroom was a bit small.
Parking was free!
Complementary breakfast was pretty good, with toasts, yogurt, muffins, waffles, coffee.
Its a good place to stop, for it is cheap and clean!

We spent one night at the Stevenson, Monterey. It was convienently located (15 minutes walk from Fisherman's Warf). The rooms were clean and very large. The bed was comfortable and the shower was really good. The continental breakfast was good and comprehensive.

It was a good place for a quick stop and I am sure it would be good for a longer stay.

Thank you for a very nice 4 star review. We truly appreciate all of our guests.
We believe that everything should be clean and that everything works. We are
now renovating our bathrooms and entire room with new carpets and curtains.
The new, much larger marble showers, whisper quiet fans and new tile floors will reveal
a great new look. Come back soon.

In Monterey for a conference, we chose the Stevenson as a lower-cost alternative to the official convention hotel. The Stevenson serves that purpose well. Pros: free parking; within walking distance of the Wharf, the meeting center and other attractions; clean and tidy rooms; good wifi; and a typical hotel free breakfast. The property has recently rebranded to an independent hotel and away from a national brand, and they appear to be doing a good job as an independent property. The hotel is a bit older, and is well kept up, so be aware that there might be aspects of the rooms - like the small bathroom, or peeling paint on room entrance doors that are hard to open - that are a bit dated, but the cleanliness of the rooms wins the day and overall it has a bit of a retro chic feel, if that’s your thing. However, there are a few issues that would make them excel as an independent property. For example, in addition to the room entrance door issue, bath towels definitely need to be upgraded - I shouldn’t be able to see through my towel or washcloth in places. And while it’s nice to have a TV in the common breakfast area, I’d suggest putting it on a neutral news channel during the breakfast time - starting one’s day with cereal and "The Crocodile Hunter" blaring isn’t necessarily what I’d choose. And eliminate the obnoxious small daily in-room safe charge. Just add that to the room rate and don’t make it a separate charge. Over all, though, this is a good value property, and we’d consider staying there again.
