“Very pleased, a little noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The room was clean and relatively modern. The desk manager was very friendly and allowed me to park a motorcycle close to my room for my peace of mind. It is in the downtown area on a fairly busy street so expect a little road noise but nothing that will keep you from sleeping.

Room Tip: Street is a little noisy so the upper floors may be quieter by being farther from the street.

Thank you for your positive comments. Our aim is to have every room be very clean with everything working. We achieve this through cleaning and regulalry scheduled deep cleaning
projects. We have a very dedicated housekeeping and maintenance department. We invite you to come again and in the Spring some of our newest refurbished rooms will be ready for you to try.

Good breakfast, good location, good/friendly hospitality at front desk, good rooms and beds and linens.

Breakfast had a couple choices of cold cereal and a few flavors of instant oatmeal. Also Yoplait yogurt single serving cups, a juice dispenser with three flavor options, muffins cut in fourths (in case you don't need a whole muffin), coffee dispenser with caf and decaf, hot water dispenser with name brand tea bags (4+ flavor options), good bread for toasting, and hard-boiled eggs.

TV worked well, but downside was that there was not a channel guide. Bed good too. Temperature controlled by customer with wall thermostat. Bathroom of reasonable quality. Mini-fridge and safe in room as well. Weird thing was that the window drapes were lacking... the semi-transparent white drapes worked (i.e. closed), but the patterned opaque drapes did not close. Not really a problem though, as I could not see anything in through my window when I checked from the outside. Room access is from the outside. Pool looked clean but I did not use it. Parking without charge in front of hotel if needed.

Close to things that matter in Monterey, such as Alvarado street, the Moneterey transit station (both walkable within 5 minutes). Close to Fisherman's Wharf (10-15 minute walk). Cannery Row is walkable too if willing to walk an easy 1.5 miles (trails with good scenery make it worth it).

Hotel easy to get to. Monterey transit station has bus access to-from San Jose transit station a few times a day, in case your airport is San Jose!

I would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: For feeling of security, recommend 2nd or 3rd floor, as rooms at this place open to the outside.

Thank you for such a positive review. We really appreciate all the kind words regarding
the good breakfast, location, hospitality, room and beds and linens. By the way, channel
is in the Guest Service Directory in the desk drawer of each room. The drapes are a
three-way system with black out drapes next to the curtains and the sheers.
We invite you to visit us again and enjoy Monterey again.

We stayed for 2 nights. It was very quiet, comfortable and clean. Located within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, the beach and lots of unique shops and restaurants. The continental breakfast was pretty good too. The only issue I had was with parking. The ground level parking fills up fast with only about 10 spaces available ideal for compact/mid sized cars so I would recommend the underground parking.

Compared to other Travelodge rooms I have stayed at, while this one did not have the basic amenities such as a microwave, the beds here were solid and great! Breakfast is decent and the place is definitely well worth for 1 or 2 nights, especially with its location - walking distance to the wharf.

Thank you taking the time to review our property in the heart of downtown Monterey You liked our Pillowtop beds and thought they were "solid and great", our breakfast and our location, a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf.
We are the only economy-priced lodge this close to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey. We do not have microwaves in the rooms and we do have one in the 24 hour lobby for use by all guests
where they can also find 24 hour coffee/tea service. We appreciate that you have a choice when you come to Monterey and we welcome you back when you are visiting Monterey again.

I stayed here and its on the far end of downtown from the wharf. Not a bad walk, really. The room is small and there isn't anything aesthetically pleasing about it, just a room. Price wasn't bad so it was a fair deal. No fridge or frillies at all. Bed wasn't that comfy but simply a place to sleep. I wasn't too happy about the cleaning lady trying to come in the morning when I was getting my groove on with my gf. Knock knock..."we're busy", then just opened the door..thank goodness for chains on the door. No "do not disturb" sign but still...privacy? Then 5 minutes later...another one did the same thing! Sheesh! Can you say "buzzkill"? Right next to the hotel is Casa Munras I believe. It's a very nice looking hotel and tho I don't think the rooms are much bigger, it's a bigger place with nice grounds and looks very nice. I'd try there as I believe the prices are comparable.

Room Tip: If you are needing simply a place to sleep, it's clean, good area, and not a rathole. If price...

Thank you for high scores on Value, Location, Sleep Quality and Cleanliness. We do our best
to help all customers that may have the rare toilet issue. Because we have one person working in the evening, they may have to allocate their time accordingly during any busy front desk hours.
We are happy you found us clean and comfy. The pool was being worked on in October and it
is once again open year round. It is seasonally heated to 82 degrees from Easter to late October.
We invite to come again to one of the best locations from which to discover Monterey on foot.
