We stayed for 1 night at this hotel during the Independence Day Holiday Weekend. They had one of the lowest rates in the area. We got a good AAA rate. This is a budget hotel and the entire hotel is NON-SMOKING. Since we are non-smokers, this was a great feature. We stayed in a renovated room on the second floor. Our room had 2 queen beds, small refrigerator, microwave and tv. The room was clean and spacious. The amenities were basic. The bathroom and closet were small. If you are a family on a budget with your own car, this is a good choice.

The breakfast buffet included pastries, waffles, juice, eggs, hash browns and coffee. They ran out of food, so get to the buffet early...

stayed there for 4 nights, for a conference at asilomar / pacific grove.
had a full capacity so they couldn't check me in early.
they have no locking room for baggage so be carefull on the check in/out times.
they offered me to keep my bag at the lobby, i kept my bag in my car and went to
tour a little until my checkin time...

Plus :
cheap
you are located on a main st. with lots of restaurants, fuel sttns, groceries..
and many
has a fridge & microwave oven
has a big ceiling fan
the hotel is clean
the room is clean
the bathroom is a little old but functions ok.
allot of parking space

Minus :
not a big room, but big enough for everything you need.
close to the airport, has air traffic which makes allot of noise,
though, i found it very easy to sleep at night.
old heating a/c
a little far from pacific grove ( 15 min. driving or slightly more )
not placed within a walking distance from monterey's recreational areas.

other :
breakfast is ok.

all in all, you get a nice place for the dollars you pay.

My family and I recently stayed two nights at the Ramada Limited in Monterey, CA. Our Thursday/Friday stay squeezed more from our wallet than most of our other motel stays, but we visited during the peak summer season and most other motels and hotels in the area are comparably priced, if not significantly more expensive.

As with many of the hotels in Monterey, the Ramada Limited is an older motel that has been updated to give it a clean, comfortable, modern feel, with the occasional creak in the floor as one of the few reminders of its vintage. Our two-queen-bed room included amenities such as a mini refrigerator and microwave, a hair dryer, and wireless Internet access. Curiously, the Internet access is poorly promoted, and I had to call the front desk to find out whether it was even available. If you have a laptop with wireless capability, call the front desk for the userid and password required to log in.

The Continental breakfast included with the room rate is modest but not skimpy. In addition to the standard fare of bagels, pastries, and bread, choices include hot waffles, cold cereal, fresh fruit, and three kinds of juice. The dining area is a bit small and tends to fill up, but we were able to find a table during both mornings of our stay.

The motel is located near an airport, and planes passed directly overhead every fifteen minutes or so until about 10PM. However, the dual-paned windows on the room greatly reduced exterior noise, and we did not find the airplane noise a problem.

Two issues that we had during our stay: no one answers the front desk line when dialed through the motel's voicemail system; however, a direct call to the on-duty manager was answered quickly. Also, the cold water tap in our room often ran hot unless we ran it for thirty seconds or so. This may have been an issue only with our room, and we learned to work around it.

Having read the reviews of this motel prior to our reservation, I was wary of what we would find when we arrived. But our personal experience did not match the negative experiences described in some reviews. All-in-all, we found the hotel clean and comfortable, a worthwhile value, and would consider it for a future stay.

We stayed at this clean, pretty, oldfashioned motel with our baby and 3 year old son. We didn't have any issues that we needed to discuss with staff, and our interactions with them were completely ordinary. We very much appreciated the little kitchen area with fridge and microwave and food storage shelves. The room smelled clean and was clean and pretty, and so was the breakfast room which looked recently redone. The breakfast was on the generous side for a continental - juices, tea and coffee, toast, cereal selection, doughnuts. The beds were comfortable, everything worked, and we couldn't hear the traffic noise on the strip. The little pool and sauna were well kept. It was an easy drive to the center of Monterey and there was a good selection of cheap restaurants nearby. I would advise people to ask for a room that doesn't have another room above it. Some rooms are below a second storey, and the noise from the upstairs neighbors walking around can be very loud (this happened one evening only while someone was checking in for the night). We would stay there again.

Still trying to fathom the reviewer that gave this place 5 stars. As divers, we have stayed in a quite a variety of cheaper motel/hotels in the Monterey area. I have been to many neigboring ones on this very street....Fremont. But this place is the bottom of the barrel. Rooms are incredibly small. Bathroom was decent. Breakfast is OK, similar to other places (danish, cereal and coffee basically). The bed was marginal at best. But the tough stuff is the thin walls. You can hear EVERYTHING around you....cars right out front of your room, neigbors doing mundane things like showers, walking around, etc..... The airport approach is directly overhead...oh joy! Staff was pleasant enough. Rooms had patches of paint different shades, pieces of wall missing.

This place is a dump, even with lowered expectations!
