“Decent stay in the Monterey area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in one of the townhouse suites. There was a king bed in the loft, a full size Murphy bed and couch downstairs. There was enough room for 2 adults and 3 kids. One kid slept on the couch. There were two baths. There was an elevator on this side of the hotel. The breakfast was OK. We've seen better. The staff was friendly & helpful. The laundry services they recommended were 15 minutes away. Not very practical. However they did recommend a delivery service for food. We didn't use the pool because the weather was too cold. The price was fair for what we got. A clean room that accommodated 5 people.

If there was ever a example of photo shop this hotel web site this is it. We we so disappointed.
This property is old and in need of repair. No restaurant but they do give you a continental
Breakfast.
No elevator so be prepared to hall your luggage up very narrow stairs.
No air conditions in building one, so go when it is cool.
Rooms are crowded and not laid out well, eclectic furnishings.
Because I booked through Expedia, I could not even get a receipt

My advice head toward Fisherman's ward for a chain hotel.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms go down the street to a chain hotel.

Stayed 2 separate nights, 2 different rooms, in 2 weeks. Exteriorly, the place looks nice and up-kept. Interiorly, the rooms were mostly nice and clean. Found a few cob webs on the ceiling. Had a foul stinch until the AC/Fan kicked in. Not that many channels to watch. Wish there were 2 tvs since my toddler preoccupied the room the entire time. Not sure why the coffee maker was located in the restroom. Didn't use the pool area so cannot comment on that. Breakfast was simple: coffee, juices, milk, waffles, muffins, pastries, bread and bagels, cereals, oatmeal packets, granola bars, bananas, and of course accompanied condiments. Beware of the employee maintaining the breakfast area. He's always around which to me was creepy. Request for room with fireplace because they seem more roomier. Not bad for a night or two.

A most happy convergence led me to stay at Mariposa Inn last night--for which I am most grateful! For half the price of the local 4 star hotel, I received twice the delight in comfort, whimsy, beautiful finishes, the spaciousness of two full rooms and a fireplace, patio . . . lovely locally designed gardens and a sweet, professional staff. I immediately asked for booking at an in-network hotel for my next stop. And will always be looking to stay in a related network inn in the Personality Hotels Network. They clearly have a modern, inspiring, comfortable approach that was incredibly refreshing after a long week of work. Hats off to the team. You have made a lifelong customer and friend. A great business model for the times we live in--reasonable, comfortable, well done!

Room Tip: I loved my room overlooking a patio and the pool and gardens--wonderful breezes and a sweet, quiet v...

Met up with some friends in Monterey, and decided to use a non-chain hotel. Very happy with this choice. Rooms very clean, beds comfortable, staff was great, breakfast chould've used some more protein choices, pool and spa was a nice way to end the day.

At the last minute, we made a trip to Monterey and stayed at Mariposa. The rooms were quaint and clean, and the mall's literally across the street. We didn't use the outdoor pool or Jacuzzi because it was rather cold and foggy on our arrival. Instead, we made a trip to Fisherman's Wharf.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter stay, the first floor rooms facing the small parking lot may not be the best c...

I had expected a regular bed and breakfast stay but this turned out to be much better! The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Given the rate at which we got it for, it was definitely a good deal. We stayed for 1 night and would be happy to return when we visit next. The location is perfect! Few miles from Carmel and Big Sur. The breakfast was not bad either.
