“Excellent location, service, and value”

The hotel staff is outstanding. The breakfast service was typical LQ, but better than some that I've seen. Good variety and quantity. The room was well maintained and stocked; the typical LQ room. The free wi-fi is a nice bonus.

Despite being close to a freeway, the traffic noise at night was not a problem. It helps to request a room with "a view of the lake," which is opposite the freeway. Upon check-in I was advised that those rooms are a higher-price upgrade, but I got the lower price as a LQ Rewards member. That also helps getting the best price--registering online in advance on the LQ website with your member number.

Incidentally, don't pass up the in-room coffee provided by LQ. The coffee they serve at breakfast is fine, but that stuff in the little in-room packet is really great.

I see another review is saying the same thing. This hotel was nice and inexpensive (compared to others in the area), but the room had a musty odor. Also, I noticed that the carpet always seemed to be a little damp. The location is good and the price good, but, if my wife had been with me, she never would have let us stay there.

On the positive side, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.

The hotel is a little tricky to get to and you have to drive to get to downtown Monterey and the wharf area. The room we had was very large and clean but a little worn. My biggest criticism is the bathroom. It had a very strong mold smell. The heating lamp had been replaced by a regular money saving swirling light bulb! The staff was just ok.

I recently went on a trip to Monterey Bay to kayak out around the aquarium, Santa Cruz, etc. and booked LQ Monterey because of the good experiences I have had with them in other states. My girlfriend was concerned about leaving the kayaks on top of the car overnight (it should be noted it had nothing to do with the neighborhood, the area was quite nice) so we asked the front desk clerk Aaron if there was any place we could store them and he promptly offered to lock them up in the hotel's storage room. He even helped us carry them into it and assured us that we could access them 24/7 by asking the front desk. Not only were we able to store them in that storage room overnight, but we were allowed to keep them during the days when we weren't on the water.
Breakfast was better than average with the standard array of good quality muffins, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc. including waffle makers along with scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage. The staff was very helpful and kind throughout our stay and I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a very enjoyable stay at La Quinta Inn in Monterey. We went to visit our son and grandkids that live there. We normally stay in a 2 BR frunished apt. at CSUMB but there were none available for this trip. Our room had a king size bed, queen sleeper sofa, 2 chairs, desk, microwave, and refrigerator. The room was very clean and comfortable with a good bed. It has a nice sized bathroom.

There was a free breakfast with excellent sausage, eggs, waffles, and the usual cereal, fruit yogurt, etc. It was quite good and we had no trouble getting a table. One thing I liked is they have the breakfast until 10:00 am instead of 9:00 like so many others.

The service was superb, very friendly and accomodating. We will definitely stay there again if we can't get the apt. at CSUMB.
