This hotel had updated spacious rooms. Both clean and comfortable. Offered a better than usually free continental breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy driving between hotel and aquarium/other attractions.

On my last visit to the Monterey, I suggested to the hotel staff that they provide a skim milk option for breaskfast. They currently provide whole milk and 2%.

On my last stay there recently, after I checked in and went to my room, low and behold, as I opened my refrigerator, there was a quart of non fat (skim) milk! At first, I thought that the previous guest had unforgotten and left it there by accident. But - the De Anza staff was one step ahead of me as usual.

What a hotel, you suggest, they respond. That is customer service at its finest!

My family and I just returned from a 2 week trip up the California Coast starting at Disneyland and this was one stop that we were going to take for just one night on our way up to San Francisco.

Pros:
The quality of the room was ok, nothing we couldn't handle for the night. when we first arrived in Monterey we had a little bit a of a hard time trying to find the hotel because of our GPS. Check-in was no issue and we were assigned a room facing west. We chose two queen beds to fit the family with two adults and one teenager. Beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. As always we check for bed bugs and found nothing, plus in my book!! Linen was in line and complete. Beds were made well. Staff was very friendly. Location was ok, but we didn't plan on staying for more than one night. Night time was super quiet!!! Love it! Free breakfast wasn't bad, coffee was better than most places.

Cons:
One of the beds had a slight tilt towards the headboard so it made you feel a little upside down. One of the electrical outlets was not working by the bay window. The black crows that hung out around the trees on our side of the hotel were very loud up until dusk. No A/C in the room, we had to request a fan from the front desk(not everyone prefers to sleep with their windows open at night), would be more convenient if they had a small A/C unit for each room.

Overall:
Can't complain, for an overnight stay it wasn't bad. Would I come back again? not sure if I would stop in Monterey again, not a whole lot to see if you ask me. I would most likely drive through. But for the money, I don't think I would have an issue staying here again.

Millions of people from around the world come here to enjoy the beautiful scenic coastline, the world renown Monterey Bay Aquarium, 17 Mile Drive, the quaint charm of Carmel by the Sea along with many other attractions. I wish you had inquired at the front desk as we have an information sheet listing
top local attractions and could have offered assistance based on your preferences. Thank you again for taking the time to post such a lengthy review.

We (my husband, toddler and I) first stayed here last year. We picked this hotel because we were watching our budget and wanted a hotel that would offer free breakfast as well as free parking. When we arrived, we were surprised to see a little koi pond in the lobby. My young son absolutely loved this feature! The room was clean, including the remote control (which was sanitized for our use) and fairly comfortable, especially for a hotel in this price point. The breakfast was adequate (standard continental breakfast), but we knew not to expect a fancy buffet so this was fine. This hotel is a short drive to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, and an even shorter drive to downtown Monterey/the wharf. We were very pleased with our initial stay last year, so when we returned to Monterey earlier this year, we chose to stay here yet again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room closer to the elevator because the staircase is not easily accessible.

We were delighted with our stay here. Indeed, so delighted that this review will be very short and sweet! Great room, fantastic bed and pillows, very clean, free and excellent internet, free and spacious parking, and spot-on customer service from the staff.

Stayed here 2 nights and it was easy to get to both Monterey and Carmel from here albeit would require a car. The room was very big and whilst we were on the second floor at the front you could not hear any noise from the road at all. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful and advised us of where to go and where to park the car in town etc. Breakfast was fairly basic which is the only reason I have scored the hotel very good as opposed to excellent, however it provided a basic breakfast which was sufficient and it was plentiful too. Had free internet access in reception which was a bonus and we would definately stay there again. Good value for money.

This was a perfect hotel for what we wanted while in Monterey. Spent 2 nights here and room was clean and staff were helpful. We stayed at 5 different hotels in the USA and this hotel had the best shampoo and conditioner. We were pleased that there was a safe in our room, as some other hotels didn't provide this. Hotel was handy to a couple of restaurants and pharmacy over the road. Our kids made the most of the swimming pool which is heated. There is lots of parking which is free (some around the front and back of the hotel).
