“Great Location, OK Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Lets start with the positive, it is in a perfect location if you're driving. Just one exit away from 17 Mile Drive. Two exits away from Carmel and from Fisherman's Wharf. Also right next to a mall and rite aid and Whole Foods. The room had a refrigerator and coffee maker. Bed was comfortable. There was also a restaurant at the hotel. We only had breakfast there and it was good and the waitress was really friendly. Now the negative, I couldn't get the room warm. The room was freezing when we first walked in. I look for a thermostat and couldn't find one till we noticed it had an old heater box in the wall. It just wouldn't warm up. The temperature outside was in the 50's. Figured we would make the best of it since we were Not going to spend much time in the room. Slept in a sweat shirt. I dropped something near the toilet and when I was picking it up I noticed that toilet was filthy under the rim. It was black. There was a loose tile that was put back into place with scotch tape. One of the lamp shades was broken. There were three different remote controls for the TV. There are instructions near the TV to help you figure out the remotes. We were on a budget so this was one of the cheapest hotels. I would stay again only if I still was on a budget and it was summer time.

Rooms were neat and tidy and quaint! Mall and restraints across the street and close to the coast and 18 mile drive route. We really enjoyed the Safari bar and the bartender was great trying to remember his name! Great friendly service would stay again

The hotel was under construction which was not mentioned on the website. There was broken glass windows and debris on the stairs and in the hallway. The room was definitely priced over what it offered and it wasn't close to much of anything within walking distance so I wouldn't go if intended to find something fun to do for the evening.

When they found my debit card lying around the property, they called me and mailed it to me free of charge. This was extremely helpful.

The rooms are modern: big beds, stark colors, etc. The TV receives showtime, but not HBO, which was annoying.

The location is rather strange: it is tucked in a corner, right next to the highway. Drive through the gas station to reach the hotel. It is convenient but rather far from downtown and the beaches.

Read a lot of reviews for this hotel mentioning its value for money and cleanliness so decided to try it. Cant fault anything but the "gym". From the very friendly receptionist to the spotless rooms and the excellent value for money, we were given the "Fall" rate which including tax came to $79.59. Breakfast is not included but they have a wonderful salad bar where you can enjoy a cooked breakfast and an evening meal for $10 a person. The only thing I didnt like was the gym which only had one treadmill and looked a little dingy with a previous leak in the ceiling leaving a nasty mark. There is also a very nice bar on the property although we didnt use it. Highly recommended.

The room is clean and the bed is new and comfortable. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. The bath room was recently remodeled. The TV channels are very limited(I only found one working). I always use the chain hotels when we travel. This is my first time to try the local one. It worked very well for overnight stay.

We chose this hotel because we had a boat in tow and they seemed to have the biggest parking lot. We did find a spot in the lot and that was lucky though I dont think this would have been the case in high season.
This hotel was not bad at all for the money. They had a restaurant with decent salad bar big enough to qualify for dinner. Which was great because it was not easy driving around town with a boat. Breakfast was not bad either, though not free by any means. Served and cooked by the same guy.
The other reason we chose this hotel was because they were pet friendly. The one bad side of the whole deal was we didn't know that there was a $30.00 charge for our tiny Chihuahua which was not mentioned anywhere until we had paid and arrived at the desk. We thought this charge was excessive so if you are going to Monterey with a pet you might want to call around first. the good value room turned into top dollar with the addition of a pet.

Room Tip: If you have a pet call around other places as they charge $30.00 extra
