“Noisy, average rooms, beds are OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

It is located in "Motel row;" not close to anything. Noisy fridge in the room. WiFi is fine. Not the best place to stay in Monterey. Bed was ok, not great. Room was large, this is an old motel. Stay here if you can get it cheap.

from the poor check in availability to the poor breakfast area that is not accessible to power chairs unless you drive onto the sidewalk and go around to another adjoining hotel, to the pool and hot tub that I have to drive around from 1 hotel to another to access the room was okay and the pool and hot tub are nice but I had to change rooms when we got here after I called and confirmed a bottom floor due to mobility chair, then had to get another room since the guy at the desk thought I didnt need to bring the scooter with me to the room, the staff is nice but as a whole not the best handicap accessible hotel. if i wasnt handicapped I would stay here but not if I need anything else, the stairs suck to eat and check in.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else if you are handicapped

Monterey can be very expensive. Munras Street has a number of older motels, and if you are familiar with the Choice family of hotels, this is fairly typical. The rooms are clean and updated, and the bedding was excellent. The service at the front desk is very good. The breakfast is typical for this type of motel, although they are a little slow in stocking some items after they are used up. Waffles, cereal, muffins and danish, biscuits and gravy, fruit, juices, coffee. The breakfast room is a little small and seating will be difficult on weekends but weekdays are fine. The hotel is a little noisy; there are wooden corridors and it all depends on the rest of the clientele here how considerate others will be. There is a little street noise but this could probably be found on any of the motels on this street. It is fairly conveniently located to attractions and a large mall, as well as the freeway. They share a pool with the motel next door. The pool and hot tub are decent size and indoors. They just added Dish TV so there are a lot of channels to watch if you are sitting in your room. Rooms come with microwave and fridge, always a benefit.

This is a no frills Hotel with a ok location close to down town in a car and close to the freeway. Stayed during the MotoGP weekend and the price was 6X the normal daily rate, I guess that is expected when you book late. The staff were nice and the breakfast was ok but not what you would rate higher than a 3 out of 5.

Clean quiet room on the first floor did not check out the pool so I can not rate. I would stay again but would book early.

Free parking that is a plus.

Room Tip: book early our you will pay more than the rooms priced at normal rates.

I had a 2nd floor with a "view" of the ocean. Overall it was decent, but the room I had was the 3rd in from the street. Wow, was it ever loud. Traffic, doors slamming, people clomping up and down the stairs - which for some reason have loose metal strips that make a loud *clack* whenever someone walks on them.
The breakfast was not-too-shabby. Good selection of fruits, pastries, coffee, juices, and hot food options (that morning there were biscuits & gravy, some sort of "egg" patty, and waffles). Only downside was that I went for food when all of the families staying there did as well. No open tables in the breakfast room meant I got to eat at the table in the registration area.
The hotel is a decent location from downtown and the wharf. I walked to the wharf and back. Cannery Row was a bit further.
In all, I'd probably consider staying here again the next time I'm in Monterey - if the price is still right.

After a disastrous one night experience at a different Monterey hotel, this as a palace in comparison. Enjoyed a king size standard room on the 2nd floor in the back. Was quiet and the room was bright with good sunshine. The room was clean and the bedding was excellent. Nice flat screen TV on the wall and microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room (the microwave could have been better but the basic on off did the job required).

The breakfast room was nice, bright, clean and the morning fare was name brand cereals, eggs, yogurt, bagels, english muffins, danish pastries, hot cook-yourself waffles, eggs, biscuits and fresh fruit and of course coffee, tea and juices.

The hotel staff was great, especially Maria who works at the front desk. She was helpful, recommended a good restaurant and provided a courtesy discount card.

They have 2 day for the price of one tickets for the Monterey Bay Aquarium - nice to have an option of breaking up your visit.

Booked it through Priceline/Booking.com whose customer service specialist helped get me out of the original hotel - an unexpected surprise at their level of customer satisfaction! Kudos to Priceline.com/Booking.com

As an aside, I learned after the fact that it's a good idea to contact the hotel directly for better pricing, especially if you have stayed there before.

All in all, a very good experience and I would definitely stay at this property again.

Room Tip: Upstairs in the back are quieter.

Just got back from a seven day trip to Monterey (3 nights) and San Francisco (3 nights). Stayed here at the Quality Inn on Munras. Stayed here in 2008 also. We (my wife and I) got a nice room with a king bed and fireplace on the second floor. Clean, well kept, good service, nice pool and Jacuzzi, the usual type of continental breakfast (limited seating). A couple of miles from the wharf/Cannery Row area so the parking is free. Rates seem to really fluctuate ($260 on Sun and $110 for Mon and Tues nights). Good value if you can find a lower rate or go during the week.

Room Tip: The fireplace in the room is a nice touch. It puts out a lot of heat.
