“Great value in Monterey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2011

This was a very nice find. It was nicely priced. It was roomy. It was clean. It was quiet. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The location was convenient as well. We would return without a second thought.

The place looked nice enough on the outside, but I was completely underwhelmed by the room. I booked a room with the fireplace, so at least it was on the bigger side, but it smelled like a convalescent hospital when we entered it. The glass on the fireplace was hazed over as if it hasn't been cleaned in YEARS and my husband found disposable silverware left by the previous guests in one of the dressers. Needless to say, we immediately doubted how well the place is cleaned in between guests.

With that said, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The room above us had very loud children, stomping and running...sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling! The desk person was quick to call the room and asked that they keep the noise down; fortunately, they were quickly compliant..

The continental breakfast was well-stocked and convenient, although they may want to invest in additional silverware. They ran out of forks (which were toddler-sized) and we were left with plastic forks, which were flimsy and fell apart. Again, I must say the staff was great, as they had one girl running the kitchen (both cooking and cleaning) and she was very good about keeping items available.

Overall it was OK, but now knowing what other places are available nearby, I wouldn't stay here again. I'm sure the rates were a little higher due to the fact that it was Easter weekend, so maybe the rest of the year the rates match the quality, but I don't feel we got what we paid for.

Pros + large fireplace room +lovely indoor pool & hot tub(with jets) & not to mention it was a salt water pool. Cons - rooms in desperate need of an update, from the t.v. down to the linens, and that bright teal wall was definitely not included in the hotel pics. The breakfast had the usual options from pastries to fruit & cereal, waffles & an assortment of juice(Don't go for the biscuits & gravy! Eek!) So a little high priced for the quality but a great area & the pool might jus be enough to get me to come back(ohh except they forget to mention that they share it with there "sister hotel" next door ...so if both hotels are filled up, no doubt the pool area will be overcrowded)

We stayed at the Quality Inn Munras for three days. It is a very affordable hotel on a road that has many small hotels to choose from. The check-in was very easy. The lobby was welcoming, as was the staff. We requested a room upstairs and were given one in the back of the hotel off the main street. They offer a continental breakfast that sounded good but, we chose to eat at a local restaurant. The room was small but clean. TV, microwave, fridge, iron and board all worked well and were greatly appreciated at this price point. The sink and counter area is not very roomy but adequate. Coffee maker and hair dryer are also offered. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. The carpet could use an update but other than being a little worn it was clean. Having a decent shower is always a plus for a hotel and there was plenty of hot water and a good shower head. All around it was a clean and comfortable place to stay if you are looking to save a little money, and who isn't these days.

While the Quality Inn on Munras rooms might be a little tired looking, they are clean and had everything we needed during our recent stay. We had stayed at a Hilton in Santa Rosa for several days before and found the Quality Inn on Munras a welcome relief from the bells and whistles (without much substance or attention to detail) found at the Hilton.
Thanks Trip Advisor! I selected the Quality Inn based on your reviewers opinions.

I was happy with my stay at the Quality Inn - a great rate and no problems. One drawback for some might be distance from downtown and the water. For me it was about a 20 minute walk to the convention center (which is a hop, skip and jump from the wharf), through residential and safe shopping areas with boutiques, coffee shops and medical offices, ending in downtown. There may be a bus if you go to the street behind the hotel, if you don't feel like walking.

The hotel had a nice lobby and there were lots of flowers outside. The reception staff was friendly. The bed was good (at least I slept well) and the sheets were soft. The bath towels were not luxurious, but the shower was hot and had good water pressure.

My room had a fridge and microwave, though I didn't use either. I did use the free wifi which worked flawlessly all three days I was there. There was a Jack in the Box down the street where I could get my diet coke fix on a regular basis.

The continental breakfast was a little nicer and more extensive than some. It had the pour-and-cook-it-yourself waffles, hot biscuits and gravy, orange juice in pitchers (vs a vending machine) plus cereal, pastries, apples and oranges. The breakfast room was pleasant, second floor with lots of window, and there were free newspapers to read.

The hotel next door is a sister property and they share a nice indoor pool and small workout room. (I didn't use either.) You may want to ask for a room back from Munras as there is some traffic noise but it didn't keep me awake. I'd stay there again, when looking for a nice, clean motel with a very reasonable rate.

Was quite happy with our current stay at this hotel. The room was on the first floor, had really nice landscaping outside our front door. The only thing that was a bit awkward was the layout. A long dresser was blocking the doorway leading to the bathroom, it took a little bit to get used to squeezing past it in the dark. The bathroom area was nice, the sink and mirror were in a small hallway outside the bathroom. We did have a few occasions were the "energy efficient" lights in the bathroom went off after an extended amount of time so we had to shower with the door open to get light from the hallway.
The continental breakfast was great! The breakfast area off the check in area was really cute and there were plenty of food options.
The pool area was also nice and open - we weren't aware prior that we would be sharing with the hotel next door but we were the only ones using it when we were there.
Would definitely stay again or recommend to others!
