“Incredible Seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

I've eaten seafood pasta all over the world and the seafood coupled with the fresh spaghetti at the fish house was unbelievable. I'd come back to California just to visit the restaurant again. This place was buzzing. The oysters were HUGE never seen anything like them before.

“Best place in Monterey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

This is where the locals go for good seafood and wonderful wine selections. I've eaten here on many trips and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend an early reservation, as the wait can be long later in the evening.

“Cioppino vs Bouillabaisse ... both winners!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

I normally order the Cioppino when I dine here (which is only about twice a year) because it is simply amazing. For some strange reason, though, I decided to be adventurous this time out and I ordered the Bouillabaisse ... big mistake. Now I don't know which of the two is better. They are both delicious meals cooked to perfection at this restaurant. What a nice dilemma to have!

“Not worth the wait”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Reservation or not, expect to wait. Either outside, in the crowded entry or at the small beer and wine licensed bar. The place is extraordinarily popular at lunch and dinner and the service declines as the prices increase. The food is generally fresh and well prepared and presented, except for the vegetables which were overcooked. Bathrooms are totally inadequate in size and in style - what one might expect in the cheapest of restaurants, which this place is not. On the other hand, the crisp and large linen napkins were at conflict with the otherwise diner ambiance. We had the albacore, which was stick to your teeth fresh and served blackened without being dried out, and the octopus which was succulent and crisp. Despite its location it has become a tourist place, presumably building off its high ratings on many of the web sites. Despite the great efforts of the wait staff the restaurant suffers badly from trying to push so many people through such a crowded space. There is no ambiance, time or space to enjoy the great food before the apparent need to turn the table.

“Great Seafood! Lives up to all the reviews without pricing you out the door!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

You couldn't tell from the outside, but from the inside this place is great. Pretty decent indoor decor with a nice fireplace. Jam packed full of people. The line was out the door the whole time I was there and it was because the food was awesome. The first thing that impressed me when I walked in was the food on the tables. Every dish looked great! We had the oak grilled Octopus to start which was very good. (Good portions.)The Cioppino was tasty with hearty chunks of everything good (Octopus, Calamari, Ect..) They didn't skimp. My girlfriend had the fresh halibut encrusted in almonds.( Very fresh and succulent.) I plan on returning here many times!
