This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Monterey! It is right on the recreational trail, just a stone's throw from the Aquarium on Cannery Row. If you're lucky, you can grab an outside table that overlooks Monterey Bay. I worked next door to the restaurant, so I'd frequent this place a lot.
The fresh soups are made from scratch and they are always delicious. My favorites items to order are the grilled portabello mushroom sandwich--oh, that aioli sauce! Simply divine.
I also love the fish tacos-- served nice a crispy with delicious black beans and a tasty rice (with carrots and celery). If you want to splurge, you have to try the beignets. These delightful "New Orleans" type of doughnut is hot with just the right amount of powdered sugar on top. It rivals the Cafe du Monde, in New Orleans!
Breakfast is served all day, and it's good, too.
I have never had a bad meal at this place-- the cobb salad and Chinese chicken salad is really good.
Just go here and you won't be disappointed. It gets busy on sunny weekends but you can get a place to sit.
PS: I've seen the kitchen and it's spotless.
