“Outstanding Example of the Atmosphere of Montery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

I have been visiting Montery about every year for the past Ten years. Having grown up in Pacific Grove I love the feel the management and rooms give you of the Montery area. The rooms are exceptional clean and the management very friendly willing to extend a warm welcome. With in walking distance of many of the areas historical sites and of course the warf make it a very desireable location. You might call it a budget motel, but you would be wrong. The accommodations are frist rate if you are looking for a place to stay and get the true feeling of living in Montery.

Room Tip: second floor rooms would be desirable, on a clear day you can see the bay so choose that side if you...

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your most recent review. I'm glad you are able to come back and enjoy the area having grown up in Pacific Grove. As a management team we take tremendous pride in welcoming each and every guest and making their stay pleasant and comfortable. Our housekeeping staff takes tremendous pride in the cleanliness of the rooms and I will pass along your comments to them. Your are correct in your statement about our Ocean View rooms on the second and third floor of our Annex building which are very popular with returning guest. We look forward to your next stay us!

We stayed here on the second night of our tour, it was very welcome after the hotel the night previous, it was just a short walk from the center, we arrived just before the big car auction so it was very busy, the hotel was very clean and spacious, and had the added bonus of a fridge and micro in room with complimentary breakfast, bigger hotels please note!!

Room Tip: if you keep your mobile in your top pocket hold on to it before you check the temp of the hot tub LO...

Dear Guest,

We truly appreciate your most recent comments you posted in your review of our hotel. I'm glad you were able to stay with us prior to the Concourse D' Elegance or Car Week as it is the most busy week of the year. Many of our guests enjoy our central location as its walking distance to Historic Downtown Monterey and Fisherman's Wharf. II appreciate you mentioning the the Micro Fridge which most guest appreciate which is the reason we have them in every room. I'm glad you had time to enjoy our free contiental breakfast as it is a big hit with our guest. Thank again for your business and we look forward to your next visit to Monterey.

My wife and I (and other couples) stayed at this hotel for a concert we recently attended (Mumford & Sons). The room was extremely clean, spacious and felt much nicer than the price charged for the room. We also had numerous requests for the front desk which were all handled in an extremely gracious and expeditious manner. Also, you cannot beat the location of the hotel. It is walking distance to downtown Monterey, many restaurants and coffee shops, etc. This hotel is highly recommended to people of all ages who are traveling to Monterey or even locals who need a night away.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent comments about your stay at the Monterey Downtown Days Inn. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time while you attended the very popular Mumford and Sons concert. As a front desk staff and managment team we work extremely hard in trying to meet guest expectation. We are pleased to hear that your numerous guest requests were met as we take pride is assisting each guest in any way we can. As many reviewers have commented on our hotel is centrally located which is a great bonus for our guests to walk to the many shops, restaruants, and pubs that are located in downtown Monterey and Fisherman's Wharf. We understand that you have many choices and we appreciate the fact that you chose our hotel for lodging needs.

In this current economy we usually attempt to stay at more "budget friendly" hotels. Not cheap, but not over the top either. When I made our reservation at Days Inn I was a little worried because our room rate was at the lower end of what we usually spend on lodgeing. Was I wrong to worry, this room was a total suprise. We stayed in one of the view rooms across the street from the main building. It was large, perfectly cleaned, nicely furnished, awsome bed ( the most comfortable of the four hotels on this trip) and had a peek a boo view of Monterey Bay. Mr. Sam, the hotel manager, was very nice and helpful. As others have stated, the property is about a half mile from Fishermans Wharf, but for history buffs, it is also only a few blocks walk to several of the most historic buildings in California. The breakfast items served were sufficient, I prefer to eat out when traveling. The only negative during our stay was the large group of noisy, rude people who arrived on a tour bus and decided to disregard the peace and quite of the other guests and party into the late night. Mr.Sam said he would have gladly quieted them had someone let him know. I choose ear plugs and all ended well. I fell in love with Monterey and this hotel in particular. I feel that I got way more than I paid for at the Days Inn Downtown. Mr. Sam, I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view room across street from main bld.

We were only staying one night whilst on a road trip.Good location, nice big room for three. Breakfast was included and it was fine. We were in what appeared to be the annexe over the road but it was fine.

Pros: Short drive to fisherman's wharf and aquarium. Short walk to restaurants and farmer's market (Tuesday night). Beds and bathroom were good.
Cons: Breakfast is less than expected. cereal, toast, bagels and little more. Small eating room. We also found a bit of broken glass by our fridge in the room.

This hotel is an excellent deal. Location is great...less than a 10 minute walk to the beach/warf/downtown. The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. No problems with noise. The service was good. Breakfast is included although I did not have any so I cannot comment on it.
