“OK for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

It's hard to get enthused for this review. About all I can say is, hotels in Monterey are pricey, and this one was one of the less pricey options available on short notice. So, I wasn't expecting anything too fancy, and that's pretty much what I got. The rooms seemed at least clean, but everything is very worn and dated. The hot tub and pool were nice. The free breakfast was ok. I guess if I had to sum it up in a word it would be: Meh.

The managers were very helpful, they tried to accommodate your necessities. Rooms very clean and they have enough pillows and towels. Wifi worked great , breakfast include it. Check in fast and ready when you arrived. Easy access to pool and Jacuzzi from your room.

Room Tip: Firsts rooms are quieter.

I stayed here for 3 nights in July while exploring Monterey and Big Sur. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was spacious and clean. We had a room right next to the pool so we could just slide open our door and jump right in. The pool water was chilly but the hot tub was just right! Breakfast is included with assortments of cereal, muffins, waffles (that you make yourself), and hard boiled eggs. The grounds were pretty and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone else staying in the area.

Room Tip: If you're going to be using the pool a lot, ask for a room on the 1st floor near it.

We stayed here for 1 night on the way up to San Francisco, we arrived around tea time and checked in with no problems. Wifi worked great. The staff were friendly. The room was clean. Free breakfast was included in the room, the breakfast was ok but the room it was served in was a bit small. Cannery row was good.

The managers were awesome people. They tried very hard to accommodate your needs. The room was very clean and they provided enough pillows and towels. They had a very good maintenance staff. Older Hotel with older furnishings but everything was very clean and comfortable. The television network was better than the Hilton Gardens that I stayed at last week. The continental breakfast was plentiful. And they weren't petty about it ending promptly at 10:00. They allowed a later checkout hassle free. And we're friendly even at 10:30 at night! I will stay there again

Good location. Like the self made waffle for breakfast. Hotel manager is helpful and friendly. Booked hotel at last min, so very reasonable px. But room is simple, and no AC. Non-smoking room, but has a slight smoking smell. However, good value for the px paid

I am a woman 65 years old and I found this hotel to feel very welcoming with many touches of home. There is a room divider between the two beds in my room giving me and my partner a little more privacy. There was a bathroom with a heater in it. There was a refrigerator and a microwave, and a private porch on the second floor. The front desk was very nice and helpful. He came down to adjust my refrigerator for me. I found a lot of families here and it was still very peaceful and I enjoyed the big whirlpool. This hotel is close to downtown, cannery row and the boats pier. I was very happy to swim in the warm pool early in the a.m. hours. The breakfast included self made waffles which were great. I will return to this spot. This hotel is smoke free and is a good value.

Room Tip: The downstairs do not have private porches but they have easy access to pool and outdoor table. Upst...
